My wife and I wanted a getaway with all adults, great food, great drinks, and a relaxing atmosphere that makes you forget about time....and that's exactly what we got. From the first minute to the very last minute on the resort the staff made us feel right at home. We were celebrating our new wedding and wanted an intimate dinner at one of the restaurants and while we just wanted a table for 10 people in the restaurant; they actually arranged for us to have our dinner right by the main pool under the stars...it couldn't have been more perfect!!!! Our concierge Roberto was fantastic!!! I mentioned to him that I had a food allergy and he made sure that every restaurant we went to knew that (we saw him daily and gave him a run down of our daily plans). The Secrets chain all have great reviews, I believe this one stands out as it serve premium liquors and great food (Grey Goose and Crown at your disposal). Some tidbits to keep in mind concerning the resort:
1. Guys need to wear long pants at night in order to dine indoors at the resort restaurants.
2. Guys need to have shirts w/ sleeves in order to dine at the buffet
3. Buffets are only open for breakfast and lunch...NOT dinner.
4. The club on site is small but plays great music
5. Lobby bar and dance club closes at 1am
6. Get up early if you want chairs close to the pool or ocean

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are located furthest from the lobby and restaurants but is also the most quiet.

This is our fourth Secrets resort and probably our favorite to date. By far and away the best beach of any Secrets and the staff was the best we've ever had.

Two key staff callouts. Humberto by the pool was great. Huge help in finding great spot - setup chairs, etc. However, Antonio, our building concierge, was the best we've ever had at any destination. Antonio was caring, very helpful, booked us a unique and fun dining experience, and very very attentive. He's a great person and really appreciate him.

The preferred club was great for us. Loved the special lounge as well as the access to the spa for the hydrotherapy massage circuit - well worth the extra cost for us to have preferred club.

Still giving the resort 5 stars but one area to just note - when we stayed the resort was full. This led to 30-45 minute wait for dinner almost every night. Not the end of the world but you would think Secrets would create some solution for this. Especially the first night when we arrived and were tired this was a bit frustrating. Again, I still fully recommend but just know this.

Room Tip: Get an ocean view. Don't travel all that way then not wake up to see the ocean!

I'm talking.... Game changer!

From when you arrive at the resort till you leave, you are at home. Let me carry that for you, type stuff. The concierge, The Avis car was particularly helpful, The block personal concierge (Block 23 Pau), The Bar tenders (The bar tenders know how to take care of you and everyone else in the place. Desires and sugar reef bar tenders, pool tenders, all all.. ).The security. The waiters, The cleaners, The entertainment crew (Diana, Israel, Jordan, Jorge, Ivan, Ferminator, Sasquatch so many many more) The performances (all brilliant), The restaurants (phenomenal All of them) The people you meet also (everyone is truly feeling the same vibe as you)!! The Room service also fantastic. The Beach... Things like Putt putt. Things you never even thought of. Things you never seen before, kayaking. It's a relaxing resort, but also an adults playground where you can truly escape your troubles and be free to do what you please. needless to say, The wedding and ceremony were perfect.

Even the people outside the resort, not that I left often. Twice, the two weeks.

anyway, Do it for whatever reason. just shut up and do it. Sorry, but do it

From the moment we arrived, Concierge Jesus made us feel welcome. Have you ever waited for your room to be ready? Not here: Jesus had arranged for us to freshen up in a room until our didn't-even-have-to-ask-for-it upgraded room was ready. We told him how we wanted to spend the week and Jesus made all the arrangements and reservations. That included daily tennis lessons with Oscar, the tennis pro, who was excellent, patient and encouraging yet challenging. Down at the beach, Arturo, Marco and their team were so attentive with food and drink, we thought we were the only ones there. They even decorated our cabana for a surprise for my husband's birthday! At breakfast, Karla greeted us each morning by name and saved the table we liked just for us. At dinner, waiters Bernardino and Lucio me ayudo a hablar Espanol. Even Said from room service went out of his way to make sure our order was correct. And Lilliana in the Coco Cafe made cappuccinos that rivaled Starbucks--including the corazons. The service was spot-on. This was our second trip and I'd bet heavily that there will be a third.

I went to the Secrets Hotel Maroma for a much needed girls trips with my BFFs and I cannot say enough about this beautiful property and amazing staff. They honestly cater to your every need. The rooms, food, service, cabanas on the beach and drinks were all top quality. Also, all the entertainment was fun and professional. You never have to leave the property. A special shout out to hosts Isreal and Paulina. I would also live to thank they entire cabana staff. I cannot remember all their names but they handled a ton of people of the beach and catered to them all while keeping a smile on their face at all times. So attentive and professional. An excellent staff all the way around. Will I be back....heck yes! Kudos and keep up the great work!

My husband and I just returned from the most magical honeymoon we could have ever imagined. Secrets Maroma Beach was the perfect location for a week long couples getaway. From the second we arrived we were treated like royalty. We were members of the preferred club, where we were checked-in with Champagne waiting. They upgraded our room to Building 25, room 2547. Another bottle of bubbly and flowers awaited us as we opened the door. It had an amazing view of the main pool as well as the ocean. Our room was ready and we didn't have to wait at all for our bags to arrive. Our room had a Jacuzzi tub and another tub on the balcony. The staff keep our room clean and organized. We even had rose petals on the bed one night. The mini-bar and snacks were restocked daily. There were 6 amazing restaurants on the site. We personally loved the Italian and Hibachi, but did not have one bad meal. Room service from noon until 6 a.m. was perfect for those stay-in nights. Included in the honeymoon package was a special dinner on the beach which was fabulous surf and turf. There are delicious snacks poolside daily. The waiters around the pool were very attentive, especially Gustavo. They never let us have an empty glass and the drink menu seemed endless. There was never a struggle for a chair, umbrella or a towel. If you got tired of the pool a miraculous white-sand beach was a 2 minute walk away. The entertainment team provided enough activities to fill your day, but let you just relax if you wanted to. Plenty of night time entertainment was provided as well. A personal concierge, our was Cristina, made sure to help plan our day and check in to make sure everything was up to our personal standards. A 50 min massage was included in our package and was an amazing experience for my husband and I to share together. The preferred Club got us into the spa's Hydrotherapy for free. This trip blew us away in all areas, and the all-inclusive was definitely the way to go! I highly recommend this site as relaxing and romantic honeymoon!!!

Room Tip: If you want a good view of the ocean our building 25 was second or third from the end and still prov...

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in May 2013. It was expensive for us, but worth it, and we still dream about when we can go back.

Room:
Our room was the nicest we have ever stayed in, and both of us have traveled a lot. It was huge, with a large sitting/living area and a large deck. I think the deck was supposed to have a partial beach view and it didn't (you could only see trees), but we didn't care.

Things to do:
We love to sit around on the beach all day, but if you're looking for things to do, there was plenty. There was an activity (or more than one) every evening, and the shows we went to were surprisingly fun, not super cheesy like other resort entertainment we have experienced. You can do watersports, play tennis, bike, do archery, play ping pong, sail, dance, and more. We wish we had taken more advantage of some of the options (like tennis and the free scuba certification) but we were too busy enjoying the beach. You could leave the resort but we never felt the need to.

Beach:
The beach was one of the nicest, if not the nicest, we have ever been to. Beautiful, clean, soft white sand. Warm, clear water with tropical fish that swam right up to us. A constant breeze so the temperature is really nice even when the weather is hot. The beach has lots of comfortable lounge chairs with umbrellas (important for us -- we burn easily and need to be in the shade) and always found two chairs with umbrellas in good spots immediately. There are also big swinging bed beach cabanas a little ways back from the beach (they are nice--don't feel like you need to rent one of the private ones). Service on the beach is fantastic--we could always get something when we wanted it, but we were never bothered by servers coming around to often. We didn't experience any people trying to sell jewelry, sunglasses, braids, etc. We were left alone unless we wanted service.

Grounds:
Grounds were beautiful and clean with hammocks and chairs everywhere.

Pool:
The pool was nice and had a swim up bar. It closed early but that's what helps them keep the grounds so clean.

Food & drinks:
The food and drinks were sooo good. We tried every restaurant except the seafood place (we're not big seafood eaters). There is a different place for food and/or drinks around every corner. We especially loved the lounge with the delicious martinis and live music in the evenings. The restaurants are on the nicer side, where it's fun to dress up, but you can also eat casually by the beach or poolside. We tended to eat earlier but we never had to wait for a table.

The one downside of the trip was that I got sick (yes, the kind you're thinking) for the last three days. Those three days were miserable. That said, if you're going to get sick in Mexico, it's great to be in a comfortable room with a delicious broth you can order from room service (and not even have to talk to anyone, as they can leave it in the little secret door. I didn't rely on bottled water and drank/ate what I wanted. Next time, I would probably avoid tap water, ice, and any rindless uncooked fruits or vegetables. There is plenty of variety for food (including huge buffets) where doing so would be a bummer, but pretty easy. Even with this experience, I give the resort 5 stars.

Service:
Everyone was so friendly and helpful.

Overall experience:
Even despite my sickness, the trip was magical, right from the beginning when we drove up to the beautiful grounds, were treated royally, and given a glass of sparkling wine and warm towels. We can't wait to go back some day!
