We stayed at the resort from June 14th to the 20th. We were part of a group of 24 friends and we all had a ball. The entertainment was fantastic and the staff were all great and a lot of fun. Everything was so clean and spotless. We renewed our vows on the beach, and Cecelia did a wonderful job with everything. Everything about the resort exceeded our expectations. We will return again, and hopefully soon ! We will be going to the new Secrets Playa Mujeres for a week for New Years Eve, and we are hoping we have the same wonderful time we had at Maroma Beach. We all came home with a lot of GREAT memories !!

Room Tip: Ocean view room on high floors are great.

Perfect honeymoon destination! Do not hesitate, it's not hype, book it now- you won't regret it! I will use my review and summarize with pros, cons and tips. I would also say that it is important to research your destination. Prior to picking Secrets, my husband and I spent weeks going over the reviews and we would pay particular attention to the negative reviews- so that just in case, we would know ahead of time what we were signing up for

Pros: The beach-simply breathtakingly beautiful- even more so than any review or pictures could do it justice. Clear, blue, warm water, soft white sand. The water was calm and the staff worked over-time to ensure it was sea-weed free-it was heaven on earth. The staff- they really, truly are some of the kindest people in the world and everyone really does go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. The rooms and the grounds were very well take care of- they were immaculate and clean, at all times. The spa was overpriced- but it was worth it- they did a fantastic job- we did the couples massage, scrub, pedicures and the fish therapy. Fish therapy was an experience - it felt weird, but it was well worth the soft feet I had afterwards. Food was amazing! We loved oceana (for being their 'casual' choice this was the best choice for dinner-it was sooo good and really romantic (get the mixed grill- it was soooo good) and seaside for dinner. Also get the himitsu for their tepanyaki grill (reservation required) We only saw 3 of their entertainment shows and they were amazing and fun- I really recommend this resort. Room service was prompt and they brought you whatever you wanted- all night long! The only restriction is that hard-alcohol would not be delivered after11 pm (11pm and on, you could get beer and wine) The secrets box was very convenient

Cons-There aren't many but I will try to be as honest as possible- we went in July and as per my research- it is their hottest and I believe one of the most humid months- this is kinda a pro because we got a discount-but their air conditioning in common areas is lacking- our room was good-perfect-but the lobby, entertainment lounge and various restaurants- OMG it was hotttt! For a hotel of this caliber, I was surprised because every single thing else was perfect

Tips-if you are a beach person, rent the cabanas ($50 per day-reserve them the day you get there-they sell out) they are private, shaded and comes with your own waiter/waitress. Also get the swim out room! My husband and I used it every evening after dinner or entertainment and it was an amazing and romantic experience Do not over pack like we did! Bring a mosquito candle and remember to close your doors as you enter the balcony or terrace and exit- we actually did not get bitten but we brought and used plenty of repellent-also related to the humidity, I would bring separate bags for dirty and clean clothes- our clothes didn't really ever dry - it made laundry a beast when we got home. Ask for the top shelf liquor and how ever strong you want it and they will provide- also, get ones from the front desk for tipping

There is plenty to do around here or you can go the chill route like we did- whatever you do, have fun! Also in regards to the time share- they did call us - and I told them we weren't interested and that was that- but I loved this place so much I would have loved to have joined their presentation- for any of you that participate in their vacation club please let me know how it works for next time

I know people's experience are all relative-but I honestly do not know how people could really complain or have a bad time

Secrets Maroma was a great choice for our honeymoon. The best part? The staff, by far. Extremely friendly and extremely welcoming. Our waiters were always excellent (Manuel the server at El Patio is the best - he should get a raise). The entertainment team was really great as well. We didn't interact with them all, but Jordan, Israel, Ferminator, and Ivan come to mind as great. They do a good job of planning fun activities and get you a schedule every night with key info for the next day (restaurant hours, activities, shows, etc.) that is really helpful. Also, the two restaurant managers who did the tequila and wine tasting classes were really great. The nighttime shows were incredibly well done, too. We were speechless after some, namely the Beatles show, the cirque de soliel show, and the fire show. Lucy at the CoCo Cafe was sweet too. We didn't need much from our concierge, but Fernanda was really nice and always helpful.

The beach - incredible! Crystal clear water and really not crowded at all. There is a hotel on the north side of Secrets, but not on the south side for at least a mile or so, so there plenty of crystal clear blue water to go around. The pools were really nice, but you can go to a pool anywhere so we spent the vast majority of our time at on the beach. The beach really sets this place apart from other resorts in Mexico. Fun tip - pay one of the recreation guys who run the kayak booth (our guy was named Marcelo I believe) to take you out snorkeling to the reef on a Hobie Cat. Fun, personalized tour, and it is cool to get out on a Hobie Cat with someone who knows what they are doing.

The food was really good, especially for an all-inclusive resort. Breakfast was great (make sure you get a big crepe), lunch was pretty typical, and dinner was quite good as well. We aren't talking Ruth's Chris, but it is very solid food. 24-hour room service was a nice and fun touch. Drinks are good, too. Johnny Walker Black Label, 1800 Tequila, etc. My wife discovered that they make a good sangria half way through the trip, too.

We highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: Not sure paying for the "ocean view" was worth it. We had a direct view of the ocean but w...

What an amazing honeymoon/anniversary location for 8 days, 7 nights! The resort was absolutely beautiful! The resort was a short 35 minute ride from the airport, we booked a private transfer to avoid stops at every resort on the way... totally worth it! We booked the preferred club and upon arrival were escorted to the private check-in area and treated like royalty. The staff addressed us by name, met any needs we had and even surprised us with a few things we didn't expect!

Room - The preferred club offers the closest buildings to the beach and pool with the best views and private concierge service by building. We stayed on the 4th floor and had an awesome view of the entire resort, the ocean and the pool area. The swim out rooms on the first floor were the same as out room but we enjoyed the view and going to the main pool area more then the private pool (shared with 8 rooms). Our room had every amenity and was well decorated with a step down seating area. As part of the preferred club we had a concierge located in our building. Our concierge, Pau, was absolutely awesome, she took care of us all week and checked on us throughout the week.

Pool - The pool area was amazing, plenty of seating options and private areas. The pool directly adjacent to the beach was the most popular for early pool goers and the pool staff was very good about letting people know that before 10:30am they would move belongings from prime locations if left more than 30 minutes (even though some didn't believe them and were gone for hours and surprised when they came back). We had no problem dropping our stuff off for great seats and getting breakfast before this was an issue. We had amazing views from our seats throughout the week of the pool and the beach. The waiters and waitresses kept bringing us drinks throughout the day and the pool staff helped us with any needs we had including putting up our umbrella each day. The main pool was alive with chatter so if you prefer a quieter environment... book a swim-out room. We had no problem relaxing at this pool!

The beach - The beach was stunning! Rated Top 10 in the world in 2012 & 2013 we were not let down when we set foot on it! The sand is beautiful, white and never hot... even in 90+ degree heat! There is plenty of space for rest, play and private time. There is a wedding area, massage area, water sports area, sports area, private cabanas ($50/day), a bar and plenty of shaded lounge areas... basically everything you could need!

Food & Drinks - There was never a shortage of things to eat or drink! We tried all the restaurants and all of them were great! The wait staff was well trained, the food and drinks were timely and you could select whatever you prefer and even get something else if you don't like it! Our favorite was the Japanese Restaurant which is the only restaurant you need a reservation for (only the tables where they cook in front of you). We went back a 2nd night to enjoy the sushi and hot plates they offered at the regular tables. We also enjoyed the Italian & Mexican Restaurants! It is also worth mentioning the breakfast options... we ate at both the World Cafe & Oceana for breakfast throughout the week, both were great but World Cafe offered a vast variety of options no matter what meal you ate there. Most of the drinks are made with house liquors so don't be afraid to ask for the liquor and mix of your choice! The staff has no problem making you a top shelf drink upon request! Needless to say, between food and drinks, we came back with a few extra pounds but it was completely worth it!

Spa - We used the spa throughout the week as part of our preferred club benefits. There is a relaxing hydro-therapy circuit that we found great at the end of each day! The spa was beautiful and well apportioned. We took advantage of a massage, body scrub and fish spa. They were well worth it and the staff was great!

We booked this resort based on its top rankings compared to resorts around the world and we were not disappointed. We hope to go back again some day and would certainly recommend this resort to anyone who asked... especially for honeymoon and anniversary trips!

Room Tip: 1st floor is all Swim-Out. 3rd & 4th floors offer the BEST views! For the best experience, book...

We spent 6 night at Secrets Maroma Beach for our 10 year anniversary. Form the second we arrived to the second we left we were impressed with every facet of the trip. From the workers remembering our names on a daily basis, to the beach (which was beautiful), the food options - all top quality, our room...I could go on and on. My wife and I both agreed that the trip could not have gone any better. The thing that really put it over the top though was the service we received form everyone at Secrets. It was just top notch. Our favorite was Humberto - our poolside concierge. Would recommend this to any couple looking to get away. Not the most action packed vacation but as far as getting away and enjoying yourselves it is the place to go.

FIrst vacation without children in many years. This resort is absolutely beautiful. Staff works really hard to keep things clean. Everyone is genuinely warm and welcoming.Beach clean and beautiful. Food was great, lots of choices. Complaints were few and minor
Pool area was a little noisy during the day but beach was quiet alternative. Drink service a little slow on the beach. Sometimes hard to get their attention when heavy drink orderers nearby
Preferred club was worth the extra. Much closer to the beach and ocean view. I was in building 26. Ask for a high floor. Great view. Pool is near but when you close the sliding doors you can't hear a thing. Politely declined timeshare sales offer a couple of times and it was respected
Did not use the spa but took a tour and it seemed beautiful. We were given coupons for discounts but they didn't seem to buy very much. All and all we loved it. Can't wait to go back

Room Tip: Choose high floor. Ocean FRONT is directly facing the beach. Ocean view is pretty much all of the ot...

What an amazing place! Had an unbelievably relaxing time.

Pros:
- Food is great. A la Carte for all restaurants, we loved the Mexican, steak and the Italian - but weren't a fan of the Japanese (the food was ok not as great as the others)
- Breakfast choice was very good - could have as much as you want or as little
- The gym - an actual hotel gym which doesn't just contain one running machine in a box room - great way to not feel guilty after taking advantage of the food
- Staff - fantastic
- Bar - great cocktails
- Coffee bar - great coffees for a mid afternoon/morning pick me up
- Beach - a cold Corona on a beautiful white beach; perfect!

Cons:
- Pool can get a little crowded and has the usual entertainment crew; not our bag at all, but does suit others
- Spa prices - ridiculous, if they had them at a fair level, people might actually use it!

Well worth a trip to Xcaret park, only down the coast, and if you get the chance swim with Dolphins; I wasn't that bothered about doing it, but would do it again at a heart-beat!

Overall, if you want an adult only hotel with great food, great hotel and great location this is it!

Room Tip: Don't bother booking a swim-up room, spend most of the day in the shade. We had a room facing th...
