This hotel is amazing. The service is absolutely exceptional. Everyone on the staff was so friendly and helpful. They really went the extra mile. The pool area and beach were beautiful. Other patrons who had stayed other places in the area before all said this hotel had the most beautiful beach by far.

I was worried about the food since this was my first time at an all-inclusive resort, but that was really good too.

I honestly cannot thing of one thing to criticize. You must stay here. Also, we did a couple of day trips to Tulum and Chichen-Itza that left from the hotel. Both were amazing and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend doing one or both of these.

Secrets Maroma Beach is simply an amazing place for a romantic getaway. The facility is immaculate. The entire staff, from Jorge the doorman to our personal concierge Yannik, to the wait staff around the pool and in the restaurants to housekeeping, was extremely polite and anxious to provide top quality service. A smile and friendly greeting were offered by every staff person we encountered, including the grounds crew and maintenance staff.

The restaurants were fantastic, with a great variety of deliciously prepared options. Roberto, the sushi chef, is top rate! We ended up stopping there for appetizers a couple nights before hitting other restaurants for our dinners. Evening entertainment was varied and fun. The entertainment staff did a great job with daytime activities as well. Don't miss the Friday afternoon tequila tasting!

The pool and beach were wonderful, with attentive wait staff even on the beach. The only drawback is there are a limited number of lounge chairs, especially with umbrellas, around the pool areas.

The location is fantastic for a true romantic getaway; relatively secluded with a long semi-private beach. The only downside is if you want to do much tourist shopping. Taxi fare to Playa del Carmen is $20 each way (Cancun is $30-35), which makes a shopping trip a bit expensive. Secrets does seem to offer free transportation a couple days a week to go into Playa to shop, but we missed that during our visit. Local artisans were on the property a couple nights, which offer an opportunity to purchase tourist souvenirs without leaving the grounds. Overall, not a real knock against the location as far as we were concerned.

We had a wonderful stay and would love to return again, and often.

After lengthy research and much debate, we decided to spend our honeymoon at Secrets Maroma Beach. From the moment we got there we were treated like royalty. Cool towels to ease the blistering afternoon sun. A ride to our personal check-in attendant, and then an escort to our room where Roberto showed us everything in the room and how it works. Everything was more than we had expected. The room was quite large, the room service was prompt, and the food was really good (except the hamburgers - not worth trying). The swim up pool was an excellent choice. We commented through out the week that if we had not gotten a swim up, we would have been looking down with envy! The beach was beautiful white sand, and the water was warm and crystal clear. There is not any development to the south, so there was lots of open beach for walking. However, there were several resorts to the north so that was more crowded. It made us glad we were staying at Secrets. We didn't partake of the public pools since we had our own.
We ate at most of the restaurants, but our favorite was the Sea Side grill. Nothing against the others, it just had the best view of the ocean. All the restaurants we ate at (Portofino, El Patio, World Cafe, Himitsu, and Sea Side) were great! They even made special chicken tacos with soft taco shells when requested, and a special chocolate, coconut, strawberry ice-cream desert when I requested. The ice cream is the best. We wish we had discovered it sooner in the week! The strawberries and coconut tasted like they picked it that morning and made the ice-cream. If strawberry ice-cream tasted that good in the states, I'd eat it here, but chocolate is my weakness.
The staff was always very nice. Roberto knew us by name, and would always ask if we needed anything when he saw us.
The chairs around the public pools always looked occupied with towels, but we didn't see them before about 2 in the afternoon. Early in the morning, the staff placed a rolled up towel on each chair. That way you don't have to bring your towels from the room, and you can tell which chairs are available. However, by 2 all the towels were spread out, but not all the chairs were occupied. It was difficult to tell if some people had left their chairs for the day, or if they were just in the water, or in the restroom, or getting some food. We were glad we didn't have to deal with that part of the resort.
The resort never looked full. We couldn't figure out if it really wasn't full, or if it was designed so that it doesn't look full or crowded. We never waited to get a table to eat.
We stayed from Sunday to Sunday, and on Tuesday the air-conditioning started to not work as effectively. Roberto told us that 2 of the 3 chillers were down, and they were working on a solution. They didn't fix it by the time we left, but our room only got up to 79 once, and it stayed around 77 most of the time. Roberto offered to move us to another hotel (presumably Secrets Silver Sands). We didn't like the idea of moving in the middle of the week, and we had looked at Silver Sands, and had chosen Maroma for several reasons. We were not phased by the loss of 68 degree air-conditioning, and we had a great week. 77 may not sound very comfortable, but when it's 90 outside, 77 is pretty nice.
Roberto even arranged for an additional fan to be left in our room on Thursday night. We had not idea he had done that until we got back from our romantic dinner on the beach. The turn down service had already been there, and they made 2 swans out of towels on the bed, and had drawn a bath for us and rose pedals lead the way to the bed. We are glad we didn't change resorts!
The mosquitoes were a force to be recconned with. They were only bad in the evening, but they were bad. We killed several in our room all week. When we went to the open air theater at night, we asked for mosquito spray, and they gladly gave us either a can of OFF of a couple packets of OFF wipes. Same was true at the restaurants, and the Cinco de Mayo festival on the pool deck. I don't know if the mosquitoes were bad because of the time of year, or if they are always that bad. It wouldn't hurt to pack some OFF wipes if your planning on going.
Even with the air-conditioning, and the mosquitoes (the only two items that could possibly be considered as negatives, but were vastly out weighed by the positives), we would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was a little more than the other resorts we looked at, but it was worth it! It has raised the bar for our vacation expectations.

I don't see how it would be possible to get better service anywhere. The overall cleanliness was amazing. The staff couldn't be friendlier and they certainly went out of their way to ensure you enjoyed your time at the resort.

From the time we arrived at the resort, we were treated like family. There was no request to big or small that was not taken care of promptly. The quality of the whole resort goes beyond description. There was one employee in particular that went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and that was Vianney. The food, service and entertainment were great. The only downside was the first representative from apple vacation named Jimmy. Who recommended a snorkeling tour that was horrible and should have been canceled due to the weather conditions that day. Other than that the trip, staff and resort were perfect. We will for sure be back..................

This trip was for our honeymoon. We were first welcomed by all staff saying "Welcome Home". We checked in which was really simple and fast. Then we waited in the lobby long enough for me to order a beer and take one sip to then be escorted to our room. We opted for a swim-out room, which was spectacular. The water temperature was perfect in the swim-out, and very clean. I can't say enough about how beautiful the room was as well.

The general staff (landscapers/housekeeping/room service/everyone) was just amazing. Everyone goes out of their way to say hola and to ask how you are doing. The event staff does a great job to try to get everyone to participate in activities as well without being too overwhelming. We went to 2 events put on by the staff. Secrets Idol was held, and that was a blast. The winner won a 4 day/3 night stay at the resort. So, if you can sing, make sure you sign up. It is well worth it. They also put on the play Grease. That was actually really cool also. The staff does a great job of dancing and acting.

All the resteraunts were amazing as well. Only one night, we got something that we didn't like, and the manager was quick to come out and get us something else right away. Room service was also very good as well.

The beach is so gorgeous, you have to see it to believe it. The temperature was over 90 each day, and the sand never got hot. The sand is soft and white and just amazing. The water temperature itself was great. Oh, and there are white angel fish that swim up near you in the water which is really cool.

We did a couple of excursions, and they were great! We could have stayed the whole tiime on the resort though. We will definitely be back!!!!

My wife and I just got back from our trip at Cancun, staying at the Secrets Maroma. All I have to say is WOW! We were truly amazed. We read all the reviews, and they were right on. This place ROCKS! Everyone, and I mean everyone is so friendly, they really make you feel at home. And go out of their way for you. We had the Ocean view front swim out and it was amazing. Great room, spacious, clean, secluded with a great view. Their is water everywhere you turn. It's gorgeous. Like any place, there are always a few cons. I hate to even list them...but maybe these tips will help you out. The food unfortunately was hit or miss. They have many restaurants and mostly are very good. Funny thing, the Mexican was not that great. And the French place, from what he heard from other guests was not great either. But the Italian place was great. The buffet by the pool was not great. TIP, order food from the waiter, it's much better. The breakfast buffet was the best. I still miss that buffet! The entertainment crew were great! There was always something to do. Or you could just chill out with a drink by the pool or ocean. And the ocean was the most gorgeous I've seen. Clear water, white/warm plush sand. You can even feed the starfish. They will come right up to you for some bread. The drinks were always good also. If you want top shelf, just ask for it. NO questions asked. I highly recommend this place for any romantic get away. We'll be back!
