“A much needed breathe of fresh air”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2010

I surprised my husband with an anniversary trip to this resort because we live very hectic lives and needed some serious R&R. We both work, have two little boys and rarely get that quality time together that is so necessary. This place exceeded all of my expectations! It was amazing. Within the first day of arriving, all of my stress melted off my body and I was relaxed for the next 5 days straight. The resort is IMMACULATE and the grounds are lush and gorgeous. When I showed off my pictures after returning, my friends said they looked like pictures from a brochure. It's that beautiful. The color of the ocean is indescribable, like a deep jade and turquoise green. It was simply breathtaking.

It was a nice and quiet resort that was very romantic for couples. The staff was so friendly and accommodating; no matter where you went everyone said hello and asked if they could get you anything. Laying out at the pool and beach was amazing because the wait staff would bring food and drinks all day long. We tipped A LOT because the workers work SO hard and SO deserve it. Most people we saw tipped but not everyone. I think it should be a must!

The food was good, not outstanding, but definitely fun to try and good enough to eat for all the meals. Breakfast was my favorite because the buffet is HUGE and has so many awesome options to try. My favorite were the homemade strawberry and chocolate crepes...YUM!!! Our most romantic and favorite dinner was at Oceana. It was a beautiful breezy night and the ambiance was candlelit and romantic. The steak was amazing there, believe it or not, and we were serenaded by a mariachi band. We also enjoyed Bordeaux, the French restaurant. The 24 hr room service is incredible...definitely utilize it. After a day off the resort snorkeling we came back starving and ordered a huge meal. They delivered it quickly and it was hot! It was fun to lounge around and eat in our robes! Oh and don't miss the fresh chips, guacamole, and pico by the pool...delicious.

I expected this place to be nice based on all the amazing reviews but what I didn't expect was to feel the complete relaxation that this resort provided. I was teary-eyed on our last night because it was so wonderful and I didn't want it to end! It would be VERY difficult to be unhappy here: beautiful scenery, good food, romance everywhere, unbeatable service, clean rooms, fruity drinks...ahhhh..we miss it like crazy already.

Going to keep this simple. I have been fortunate to see and stay at 12 resorts in this area. Secrets Maroma beach has hands down the best beach. Only concern is that they bury their seaweed, they do not compost it, as time goes by they will run out of space to bury it.

Food
Breakfast buffet is fantastic and fresh
Lunch options are great, bonus is the barefoot grill which allows you to dine pool side and avoid the white linen sit down service that gets old at all inclusive.
Dinner options are also great, no reservations required. Themed restaurants are tasteful and not tacky.
Disco by far cleanest and well maintained I have seen.
Bonus item-fresh baked cookies in the afternoon in the lobby

Grounds
Clean and well maintained, facing the ocean the right side is quieter.
Pools very clear and refreshing not cold
Wished there was more shaded areas around the pool
Beach very clean, great palapa bar with swings down to the far left
Great walking beach

Secrets Maroma Beach was the perfect location for our honeymoon. The service was excellent, the resort was super clean and everyone was extremely friendly. My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay and we will definitely go back again and again. All we kept saying is "why have we not traveled here before". We would totally recommend Secrets Maroma Beach to our friends and family. So if you want a beautiful getaway then this is the place to be!!!

This was our first stay in a Secrets Hotel and we were really amazed by the service.
We have been to other All Inclusive Hotels but never felt treated in a special way, like in secrets.
The staff take their job very serious and make you feel welcome all the time. The room service is also very good and speedy ( also all inclusive!)
You don't have to book the restaurants, which is also a plus. We specially liked the Italian and the Mexican Restaurant.
The beach is fabulous with white sand, and the mail pool gorgeous.
We can really recomend the hotel, we had a fantastic time!

This was our second trip in two years to the Riviera Maya. We are in our mid 20's and went with the one hope of finding peace and relaxation. We did and more, although we did find a few minor glitches. I'll start with the bad and go up. We arrived on a Saturday around 11ish, thinking we would arrive and our room would be ready to go. It wasn't till after we waited 4 hours that we realized that check in wasn't until 3. So we spent those 4 hours waiting and sweating until we could get into our room. Although this could have happened anywhere, we had high expectations that the room would be ready when we arrived. Also while we were there, they were doing a filming for promotion so for 2 mornings the pool and beach were closed. We were able to turn lemons into lemonade and booked an excursion and went shopping in Playa, but it seamed as if some of the other guests were a little aggravated by this...especially since they were at 100% occupancy. Finally our last complaint was our swim out suite. We took the advice from other reviews and took our own bug spray, but still the mosquitos were HORRIBLE! Really...really bad!
Other than that, the resort was nothing less than wonderful. The food was awesome, the beach and pools were breath taking and the service was top notch. This resort could do something not many places can do. They are able to handle the honeymooners, the young party group, the 40-60 year olds and still make a wonderful time for everyone. We will definately return soon!

We had an AMAZING honeymoon and would reccommend this place to anyone and everyone. It is definitely worth the money, the service is wonderful no matter where you go on the resort.

We were skeptical about a "Mexico" honeymoon at first since most people say to go for something more exotic, but this was the best decision we made! The rooms are beautiful, service amazing, all-inclusive is the way to go, and food was great! There are so many options for dining and there is something for everyone. I've seen people post criticism about the portion size, but it was perfect- and guess what? If it's not enough food, you're at an ALL INCLUSIVE so you can order more or go restaurant hopping all night long!

Don't miss the World Cafe for lunch- so many people just stay poolside or on the beach for lunch, and we discovered this late in the vacation... it has the most amazing spread of everything you could imagine!

DON'T MISS: The Spa is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places on the resort, definitely treat yourself to a massage, even if it is a short one, the spa experience itself should not be missed.

SKIP- the dinner on the beach. I'm a pretty sappy girl and i was dead-set on doing the "romantic dinner on the beach thing". However, before we booked we talked to other people and most couples complained about it being so dark they couldn't see their food! While on a romantic evening walk, we saw what they meant. It's really dark and you only have a small tea-light candle at your table. There are about 8 tables so you're not by yourself anyway and it's pretty expensive... I say skip it- especially you ladies out there who are dying for the "dinner on the beach thing"!

You will not be dissappointed with this vacation, we didn't want to leave!
