“Awsome!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2011

Loved this hotel.
Not an authentic Kerala Touch but excellent businees class hotel with advance facilities.

Location: It is in the City. Just near by Port Cochin. Amazing view from Terrace.

Food: Lovely food. But Bar is expensive. Terrace restaurant is great with pool and full view of Port Cochin.

Service: Local bellboys are extremly helpful and educated (English Speaking) so as the reception executive.

One thing I dislike about hotel is you can not take pictures from room or from terrace as Port Cochin is so so so near by and it is illegal to snap ports. But not a Hotel's fault I guess.

100 marks from my side!!!

Room Tip: ask for Port View

I stayed here on a vacation in October 2010 with my son's inlaws. We are South African citizens and we booked 2 rooms. We found the location to be quite central. The hotel was as you see it in the pictures, if not, better. The bathroom was clean, spacious and so was the room. The staff were very friendly and made us feel at home. The manager gave us his personal attention on several occasions. The food was very good, (breakfast and dinner).

The hotel at first seemed fine with the normal amenities. After staying a few days though, I found out that the hotel wants to focus on private functions as much as the next business traveler. Loud music fills the hotel lobby which has got a couple of function rooms attached without any sound proofing. The party guests were loud and crass and the hotel staff was reluctant to hold them back after multiple complaints. Food was average at best. Breakfast is not very good though. Its on the main road and there are many shops around but best to avoid the time between 4 PM and 7 PM as it gets very congested and loud. I decided to check out the swimming pool located on the roof. It was filled with dead insects. I then tried the gym in the hotel in which the equipment are not maintained and useless. Try to avoid this place.

To get here from the airport, you are subjected to a tedious one -hour ride on congested roads pitted with crater-like potholes.

The location is far from postcard-suitable, unless you are hankering for a view of the Kochi shipyard! Our room overlooked a grey and depressing sight, from where a persistent horn blasted every few minutes till 7.30 PM. In the morning, we parted the curtains to see workers in hard hats filing in.......

Now, the rooms were nothing to write home about either-- stained walls, a cracked sink, no beverage-making facility or fridge.

There is no place to have a good meal outside the hotel either, just a couple of small hole-in-the-wall establishments serving locals.

The tourist area is nearly an hour's drive away, via heavily congested and bumpy roads.
This supposedly "deluxe" accomodation was arranged by a "reputable" tour agency, whose Kochi branch office just happened to be right next to the hotel.......

The only saving grace was the ever-smiling and courteous staff, without whose presence this place would be a total no-no.

I have stayed at Mercy many times in last 2 years as it's quite near to my company's regional office. Mercy can be looked upon as a 3.5 star hotel at 2 star price. They have given me rooms on every floor & my experience have ranged from average to excellent. Mercy works for me for it's location, clean rooms/bathrooms & a reasonably priced menu. Breakfast is included in the room & spread is reasonably ok if not great (my personal opinion is that they can improve the quality a slight bit here). One more thing i'd ask from them is to provide those temorary pair of white room sleepers in every room- that would be very convenient for a business traveller. Staff service is couteous & swift - no issues there. I'd definitely recommend Mercy especially for it;s value for money.

The hotel is placed on the shipyard of Kochi and thus gives you a beautiful view when you look out. The rooms were VERY good, though the bathrooms were just about fine.
The hotel is very good for the price and the food was good too.
There is big FabIndia behind the hotel which made for a fun shopping evening! :)
