We walked the one mile from our hotel to the bottom of Mt. Battie. This was especially nice, as it gave us a chance to see some of the homes of the locals. We packed a nice luch from the Camden Deli, and took plenty of water, both for hiking, and for lunch. It is a rocky, sometimes steep climb, but definetely not dangerous. We did it with our 6 Y/O girl, and 10 Y/O boy, and while we considered stopping, our adventurous kids wanted to go to the top. Just watch your step, and follow the blue trail marks. Once on there....WOW!! What great views, superb breeze and the best picnic spot ever!! For dessert, we picked the wild blueberries that covered much of the gound, and ate them to our hearts content, mmmm!!! If you choose to drive, you will have a $3 fee per car, and you can get off and walk to the observation tower. If you hike it is free. We really enjoyed it, and so did our kids.
