We waited a little too long to find a place for the week of the Lobster Festival in Rockland, a short drive down the coast. We came upon the High Tide Inn in a tourguide that was sent to us. Happyily, we were able to get the Rustic Cabin there. It was reasonably priced (considering that this is the height of the tourist season) and comfortable. There were a couple of things that could have made our visit a little bit nicer. For the record, it wasn't the innkeeper's fault that it rained the whole second day and night we were there. Given that, though, our cute little cabin became damp and somewhat dreary. 95% of the time, I am sure they don't need air conditioning for the temperature- but to get the moisture out of the air in the case of prolonged rain, it would have been helpful. The other thing was that there were two captain's chairs in our room and space was an issue- so I understand why that was done- but a comfy reading chair would have made the room so much nicer. Just a small one even! Other than that, the innkeeper, Jo, was as nice as she could be. Her help with the breakfast was a schoolteacher who was there for the summer and she was full of information and recommendations about the area and its attractions. They had wonderful baked goods and popovers for their continental breakfast. The yard was lovely with chaises overlooking the ocean view (we got to enjoy them the first night!). I would definitely go back- but I hope that they can squeeze in a chair!
