Arrived just before 8pm and it was the only restaurant in town still open. We had a nice meal with really good service. No complaints, but learned that we'd have to get to dinner earlier it we wanted a choice.

I had my brother and sister in law visit us this weekend and decided to show them some of the sights down on the coast. On our way through Camden we decided to eat at the Village restaurant. The view from inside the restaurant was nice and the waitress was pleasant, however the food was poor. The biscuits we had were cold and hard, the clam chowder was decent although it lacked one ingredient (clams). My sister in law ordered a hamburger medium with no mayo (she's allergic to mayo) and I ordered the crab and shrimp cakes. Her hamburger came out with mayo and was way overcooked and my crab cakes were still cold on the inside, so we asked our waitress to bring it back. After my wife and brother finished their meal, ours showed back up. Again the burger was cooked until it was dead and my crab cakes although hot this time were awful (the worst I have ever had). We sent the food back again and we left without eating our meal. Our waitress was pleasant and still received a good tip, but this place needs new cooks. This is not the way I wanted to show off our beautiful state.

I am sorry your visit to the restaurant was not satisfactory. We make every effort to
provide our customers with a quality dining experience. Even so there are times when
we ,as does everybody at some time or another, goof up. Your initial order was one of these
times. The hamburger was not done as ordered and the crab cakes were not heated
thoroughly. I happened to arrive at the kitchen when this order was returned. I personally
saw to it that a new burger with no mayo and a new order of crab cakes were prepared.
The new burger was not over cooked and a new order of crab cakes was prepared making
sure that they were completely cooked through this time. I was very surprised when after
about ten minutes the waitress returned the order to the kitchen. I don't know how
you could judge the quality of the crab cakes or the hamburger's doneness as each item
was returned to the kitchen untouched. I am sorry that the order was not correct originally, but we try to make sure that we fix any order that is not done correctly. Your not trying your new hamburger and crab cakes makes it very difficult for us to fix our error. It also makes it difficult for you to judge something you have not tried. Perhaps the initial foul up made it impossible for us to repair the mistake for you. I wish you had at least given us the chance to fix the foul up by at least trying the new orders. Again, we sometimes get it wrong and we are sorry for
that. But we try very hard to remedy our mistakes. sincerely, PaulPrescott owner

My extended family and I all love going here for one thing: the chicken club sandwich. It's old fashioned with toasted bread, sliced roasted chicken breast ( not deli lunch meat), and crispy bacon. I'm not sure about the rest of their food, but I do know one thing: the decor in this place is absolutely abysmal. The restaurant features one of the best views in town, but the owners have totally ruined it with granny style colors, woodwork, and carpet. Might as well be in a Piccadilly Cafeteria. I've always thought this place had such potential--the owners need to hire a decorator and change the decor to that of an atmospheric English or Irish pub. It could be fantastic!

Thank you for your comments on our chicken club sandwich
that you enjoyed because of its’ real chicken . We try to bring that
freshly prepared from scratch quality to all of our menu items. I
think that the décor of an Irish Pub is an excellent idea for a
restaurant. Unfortunately that style is not conducive to our
situation. We are located in a prime location overlooking one of Maine’s
most beautiful harbors. To take advantage of that we have “window
walls” on three sides of our main and upstairs dining rooms. This
provides two of the very best views of any restaurant dining rooms in
Maine. We do not decorate around these windows so as not to obstruct
this magnificent view. That only leaves us one wall to decorate. We
have opted to decorate that wall with pictures from the famous movie
“Peyton Place” that was filmed in Camden in 1957. Our restaurant
was used in that movie and it is of interest to lots of our customers. We
also display on that wall pictures of Camden from over one hundred
and fifty years ago to show how the town looked then as opposed to now.
Our décor is Camden harbor. An Irish pub is nice, it just
doesn’t fit with our location. Thank you again for your kind words
about your dining experience and for being a repeat customer. I
hope you continue to visit us the next time you are in Camden and
sample some of our other menu items. Sincerely Paul Prescott owner
