Had wonderful fried, whole-belly clams - a huge serving with good fries on the side. Very pleasant sitting out by the harbor. A little pricy, but in line with other Camden restaurants.

Thank pzp

The Waterfront restaurant is a landmark for Camden with a well-deserved reputation for excellence, ambience, and a view that is awesome. In fact, when you sit outside, sit near the railing and try not to fall in the harbor as you stare at windjammers, yachts, and lobster boats that are almost close enough to touch! The management and waitstaff are very attentive and practically anticipate your next order; drink, appetizer, or dessert. Order the mussels and the crab, avocado & bacon on sourdough - wash down with a nice local beer like Andrews Pale Ale or Golden...outstanding and you will be back!

All in all quite pleased. We visit Camden yearly to see family and the Waterfront is one of the main spots in town for lunch, drinks and dinner but we have been just the once this year because in recent years it had been disappointing (service OK but food pretty average to poor). We went for lunch this time and it was really quite good. Maybe hey are better at lunch, as the menu is simpler, but extensive for a lunch menu, All 4 of us enjoyed the food, the waitress was very pleasant without being excessive, the welcome was genuine and the prices reasonable. It has always been a great location, right on the water with tables inside and out but often it seemed to rely on that rather than serving good food. This year was much better. So we wont wait so long to try it again next year.

We chose this pace for the view, sitting outside on the deck gives a great view of Camden harbor and we certainly enjoyed that as well as the pleasant sea breeze. This was our first Maine Lobster and, although more expensive than the shacks it was fresh and tasty, our server, Savannah, really helped out with tips on both getting into it and finding the "good" bits, as well as giving advice on sizing and taste, her personality and passion really made us feel good about the dining experience.

We had dinner at The Waterfront by happenstance- Valentino's was closed , as was the Hartstone and although we looked into Francine's the wait for a table was too long and other reviewers comments on the atmosphere appeared well justified. Just around the corner we found the Waterfront, the covered deck was fully occupied but it really did not matter as it was a chilly , dark evening , so took an inside table. I had the seared scallops(six but fairly large), which were well prepared and presented, my wife had the rack of lamb, one of her favorite restaurant dishes as I do not care for lamb, which she declared was as good as any she had previously had and better than most- cooked exactly as she had ordered it with a excellent local mushroom sauce. The service was a little patchy but the waitress was pleasant and they were clearly a little understaffed. The bill was a very pleasant surprise, less than we had paid for lunch in another waterfront establishment and for a much more substantial meal with pre dinner drinks and a bottle of wine.
