Black/white/red tres chic and tres ugly. That was our impression of Natalie's. Camden is a beautiful historic harbor town but the owners of Natalie's have turned their backs on that and are wannabe New York modern. Yuck. Camden isn't NYC (thank god) and the New Yorkers who flock there to visit are escaping the city. Hoity toity menu. Hoity toity prices. Not impressed.

A perfect night on the porch overlooking Penobscot Bay at sunset; a impeccably trained though very young staff and imaginative and expertly prepared food makes for an unforgettable experience. The choices were all prix fix, a 3 course, 7 course tasting menu or a lobster tasting menu which seemed like a lot of food. If you did not want this a bar menu was available. My sister-in -law, a small eater, ordered from the bar menu and was pleased with the sautéed crispy Halibut. The rest of us opted for the 3 course menu but it turned out to be 7 courses in all because we were served 4 additional tastings, compliments of the chef. The portions were small but added up so we were quite full when we left. The wine offering while not extensive was a good list of mid to high priced wines. The white plates were of varying sizes and designs for a unique presentation. All the food was very fresh and appealing. The dessert selection was a bit thin -everything was moussey no pies or cakes or cookies or anything crispy which is what I prefer. All in all a surpisingly good experience and one I will recommend to all my foodie friends.

Our first night in Camden we decided to celebrate our anniversary with dinner at Natalie's. And, when they boast the " Lobster Chef of the year" what else is there to order but the lobster pairing dinner. This 5 course dinner turned into 7 with the "extras" and we favored every bite. Furthermore, the wine pairings complimented each course perfectly. It's a little pricy side but definitely an experience that will not be forgotten!

We booked the regular menu for our anniversary. We loved the special setting and the service though rushed at first-- it was welcome and enthusiastic. We were surprised though with the tiny portions, even the main course was smaller than the average appetizer. Everything was tasty but there was nothing I would have ordered again, especially not for the very high price. It felt a bit "emperor's new clothes".

Had dinner at Natalie's and I ordered the lobster tasting menu while my husband had the 7 course saisonnier menu. We both had the wine pairings with our meal. What a meal! The lobster tasting consisted of a lobster salad, lobster roll asian style, lobster bisque and grilled lobster with a dessert of your choice. Yes, the waiter does bring your meal and describe the dish, however, I personally liked that. I want to know the ingredients and I like to savor each taste. However, having been here, I know that you can turn that off if you ask. Micah had wonderful wine pairings with each dish. Loving wine, he was a terrific source of information on the wines and the glassware. This was just an amazing meal and we have decided to return. It was a bit chilly so we sat inside at the table closest to the front window with terrific views. This restaurant and it's staff aim to please and go out of their way to make your meal enjoyable.
