“Fabulous B&B and More”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

My wife and I just had a fabulous stay at Swan House B&B. We were only there for one night but we are already discussing our return. In over twenty years of B&B travel I have met only a handful of hosts as warm, welcoming and gracious as Lyn, her effusive generosity was contagious and her enthusiasm for Camden was inspiring. We arrived later than anticipated and Lyn immediately helped us with a dinner venue then called on our behalf to make sure they had a table.

Following a marvelous sleep in a comfortable bed, coffee was ready at 6:00 am and treats were set out before 8:00 am. The common area was a comfortable place to spend the early morning before I retired to the sun porch dining area to write prior to our delicious breakfast. The baked goods were divine and were followed by a light as air no-crust quiche accompanied with fruit and fresh picked wild blueberries.

If this sounds too good to be true, it gets better. After breakfast we walked out the back door and hiked Mt. Battie, the back yard of Swan House is literally a park. We didn't intend on hiking all the way up the mountain but were taken in by the stunning woodland and well-marked trail. We just kept going up and up until we reached a spectacular lookout above Camden.

Lyn and her beautiful property made our stay in Camden a memorable one, we hope to be back soon.

This is a really great place to stay right from the time you arrive until you leave you are "one of the family". Accommodation is very comfortable and the owners make you feel very special.

The house is situated within walking distance to the town and is nicely furnished and very clean.

Linen is all good quality and rooms nicely presented.

The food at breakfast time is a feast to be enjoyed - all home cooked and different each day. Home baked cookies are there for afternoon tea each day and these too are to die for.

Thanks Lyn for a wonderful stay and we hope this review will encourage others to enjoy your great hospitality.

I just completed a week long stay at the Swan House. It was glorious! Lyn and Ken are delightful hosts. They welcome guests like they are family and do everything possible to ensure each person's comfort. The 8:30 breakfast is simply delicious with cereals, homemade pastries, and fresh fruit. Then, a main dish is served such a blueberry pancakes with bacon or shirred eggs with sausage and toast! You must visit to truly understand how incredible the breakfast is. Each afternoon cookies and tea are available if you would like an afternoon or evening snack (Don't skip the snack!). The rooms at the Swan House are cozy and comfortable. They are exceptionally clean and are kept that way on a daily basis. The Swan House experience is a must for Maine travelers!

Room Tip: The loft has two queen beds!

After a year’s absence, Ken and Lyn Kohl, owners of the Swan House, are back and as welcoming as ever. The size of this B&B, max of 12 guests, makes for a more intimate experience where guests get to know each other and sometimes form lasting friendships. Lyn is always ready with suggestions of where to go and what to see, and able to make reservations at some wonderful local restaurants.

Oh, and the breakfasts!!! Served in a wonderful, small, glass enclosed porch, Lyn offers succulent dishes each morning, along with juices, breakfast breads, and homemade granola. Featured during our stay was a wonderful stuffed French toast with an apricot sauce and wonderful blueberry pancakes, and always with perfectly cooked bacon. It should be mentioned that a self-published cook book of some of her favorite recipes is available as well.

Rooms are comfortable with Internet available free, lots of hot water for showers or baths, and luxurious towels. Returning to the Swan House is like coming home, only better.

Room Tip: Intimate B&B with great hosts.

We spent three days in Camden this month, and two wonderful nights at Swan House. We have stayed at many B & Bs in recent years and Swan House has to rate among the very best. The 'home' rooms and those in the cottage are immaculately kept and artistically appointed. Lyn and Ken are among the happiest, most engaging couples we have seen in our B & B travels and the breakfasts are unparalleled--and she even has the recipes for her gourmet main and dessert items for sale in a handsome cookbook! Free WiFi, but no TVs in the rooms--which really only added to the atmosphere. Any 'quibbles'? Well, few B & Bs seem to have quite enough bathroom shelf space or any conveniently-located electric outlets that aren't already filled with their lamps cords, so finding an outlet for recharging iPads and phones is difficult (I finally found a plug in the bathroom). Swan House will be a 'must-stay' for us when in the area again. Superlative accommodations and atmosphere.

My husband and I recently stayed for one night at the Swan House. Ken and Lyn were very pleasant and helpful in recommending places to go and things to do in the area. Our room was quiet. Like many other reviewers have mentioned, the breakfast is simply exquisite! There was a large spread of various cereals and granola, fruit, and homemade pastries, along with a main entree. Everything was delicious, and Lyn even printed out a copy of the recipe for her homemade granola. The Swan House is a short walk into town and is in a quieter area than the heavy traffic that goes along Route 1. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

We just returned from Camden, ME where we stayed at the lovely Swan House B&B. Ken & Lyn are gracious hosts with attention to detail. The Swan Loft is picture prefect, cozy and clean and spacious. The breakfast spread every morning was super delicious, with endless coffee, lots of pastries, home made treats and fresh fruit. Lyn even shared her recipe for a delicious pear crisp that I just had to have. Lyn insisted we pack leftover pastries for our day trips. We received plenty of tips and info on what to do and see. They recommended a spectacular light house tour, a museum visit on a rainy day and that sought after experience of eating lobster at a Lobster Shack right on the water. Thank you! We had a great time. We hope to be back next year. Ivana & Reggie.
