“Home Away From Home”
Reviewed 8 November 2011

This is the 3rd year in a row my husband and I have stayed at Timbercliffe, and we love it more each time! Coming back this October felt like we were coming to our second home. The view from the front porch, and several of the guest rooms is beyond beautiful! I could just sit of the porch and admire that view for hours. I would encorage any guest to admire the view especially at sunrise and sunset, it's breathtaking! Each room is tastfully decorated and comfortable, it makes you feel at home. The innkeepers Dave & Karen are two of the nicest people you will ever meet! They treat all their guests like family and are quick to suggest resturants and other activites in the area; that they themselves enjoy (or did'nt enjoy). Along with that, they provide their guests with a delicious, well balanaced breakfast that will keep you full until dinner! I love Timbercliffe and I'm sure all who stay feel the same! We're already planning our saty for next year! Take my advise if your staying in Camden, stay at Timbercliffe!

Room Tip: its worth the extra money to reserve a room with that beautiful ocean view!!

We stayed in Camden for one night. The common areas of Timbercliffe are very comfortable, and decorated with attention to detail, as were the rooms. We very much enjoyed our breakfast served in the dining room...quite a gourmet delight!

Though the innkeepers have attempted to create an inn that is 'true to period', my only criticism would be the rooms were dark, making it difficult to read. In addition, for those who may have mobility issues, the stairs were extremely steep.

This inn is beautifully decoarated, very clean, very comfortable and is in a great location (just north of town). Three things set it apart -- (1) the exceptionally kind owners who clearly are in this business as a labor of love,(2) the very warm and cozy common areas (they had a fire going in the front room, and they have a very inviting front porch with a great water view), and (3) the breakfasts . . . . oh my, the breakfasts. So very, very yummy. Everything homemade and really really good. This is the kind of place where the owners go out of their way to make the experience exceptional. Getting in and out of the shower in the claw foot tub was a bit akward, but lots of good hot water after a day of hiking -- so who can complain. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Stayed in the smaller Widow Pendelton's Chamber -- a bit dark and on the smaller side, but quite...

Thank you so much for your great review. Our bed and breakfast, being some 200 plus years old, was decorated with authentic colonial period details. From the paint colors to the furnishing/lighting we attempted to keep it true to this period of time in Early American history. We are definitely not your cookie cutter chain motel. We truly want all of our guests to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay at our bed and breakfast.

Simply wonderful! That summarizes it all. An enveloping experience that starts before it starts!

Dave kindness started before I booked - and that was actually one of the reasons why I booked the Timbercliff B&B. The caring and attentive attitude manifested itself with the smallest and most genuine gestures (those you can not pay for), to the attention to making it effortlessly pleasant like arranging few unexpected details in the room to the excellent suggestion that Dave provides. He truly knows how to get you to enjoy what makes Maine wonderful (and by the way, try the Lobster Shack in Cape Elisabeth - A TOTAL MUST!!!!).

Superb B&B location, priceless located close enough to Camden but also on a private hill with wonderful overlook of the Atlantic Ocean. Breakfast is delicious and impeccably presented with details that make you smile. It's a feat to the taste buds and to the eyes too.

There are a lot of B&B that pride themselves with premium service and that are located in a great location but few, very few that deliver such a combination in an effortlessly authentic and sincerely genuine way.

The Timbercliffe B&B is one of them. It's a SIX stars B&B!

Room Tip: The pictures on their website are very representative of what the choice is.

The inn is so beautiful with authentic decor down to every last detail. We loved the Chauncey Suite looking out over the front of the property. It was back off the road and minimal traffic noise. The sitting area was warm and friendly....Great breakfast...with friendly, innkeepers. They give you the opportunity to sit outdoors for breakfast, weather permitting. The inn was decorated for fall and just so warm...My husband loved the bedding and the pillows....Innkeepers got them at Cuddledown in Freeport...needless to say, we stopped by there on our trip back to the airport! Our favorite place after 8 nights of B & s in Maine and New Hampshire!

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the water!

Beautiful B&B, decorated so that you feel you are a traveler staying at an inn in the 1700s. You almost expect to see your carriage outside waiting for you. The unique and artfully executed interior is just incredible. The innkeepers are gracious, warm, and friendly. The beds and pillows are so comfortable you won't want to get out of bed. Breakfast was great, but I couldn't finish it...too much, and heavy on sweets which seems to be characteristic of Maine B&Bs. The porch is a fine place to relax after the walk back from town (uphill....but not bad). It's a lovely inn. I only gave it four stars because it's on the main highway, which makes for a little traffic noise (it is set back off the highway, but if have a front room you may still hear traffic with the windows open), and because the stairway in the house is extremely steep. I had a hard time getting my luggage up the stairs. People with mobility or strength issues will want to select another inn...or pack very lightly.
