“Our home away from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2013

We love Timbercliffe. We just returned from another wonderful trip to Camden, Maine, and as usual, Timbercliffe Cottage was the best part of our trip. This was the sixth time we've stayed there, and it was as special as ever, from the beautiful, relaxing and spotless facility, to owners Dave and Karen, who we now consider treasured friends, to the incredible breakfasts and afternoon cookies Karen makes each day, every aspect of our stay was perfect. There are a lot of places to stay in Camden, which is an incredible, quintessential Maine coastal town in it's own right, but Timbercliffe is the best. We've stayed at so many bed and breakfasts over the years, dozens of them, but this is the only one we've returned to multiple times. There's a reason for that! We truly hated to leave, but can't wait to "go home" again next year, or sooner if possible! In the meantime, we'll keep dreaming about Karen's breakfasts and sitting on the large front porch in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the schooners sail by in the distance.

Room Tip: Every room is great and beautifully decorated. We've stayed in several of them and you can'...

Stayed here for our annual trek to Camden. The hosts are wonderfully knowledgeable about the area. We got to 'taste test' a new breakfast item and hope they have it next year when we go back.

Warm April weather let us sit out on the porch to watch a couple of boats going by on the Penobscot.

Truly a lovely B&B that is decorated in period style with real attention to detail.

Room Tip: If you want a view of the bay, pick the Chauncey Keep. You can lie in bed and see the water!

Of all B&Bs we have visited, this one held the best of everything. The moment you walk up the stairs to the large porch, where I spent many mornings drinking coffee, this home invites you in. The location, removed from the hustle and bustle of the town, is still close enough that it is not a drudgery to get to shopping and restaurants. We were welcomed by Dave and Karen to one of the friendliest and warmest B&Bs. The breakfast is so well thought out that we never considered going into town, of course the afternoon warm cookies are also a treat not be ignored. We had the opportunity to see every room and would stay in any one. We stayed in the Chauncey Keep Chamber and my husband admired the silent exhaust fans in the bathroom, that’s the owner's attention to details. The cleanliness of the entire facility is to be commended. The furniture is very comfortable reproduction early American and the wing chairs are perfectly located by the fireplace for reading, as we did many nights. The feeling exuding from the atmosphere that permeates every room and every setting eventually slows your pace to where you feel like a human being again - this is a getaway that brings you back to earth and in touch with life and your soul. As you may have seen in other reviews, you will not be bored, Dave knows everything, and I mean everything that you can do and see that would match your desires, from visiting all the lighthouses that spread along the Maine’s coast, to the not-so-well-known restaurant that offers the best hamburger ever, to the Oreo cows in the serene pasture. In summary we had a fabulous visit in Maine and we will return and plan to stay again at Timber Cliff Cottage.

Room Tip: Any room is worth staying in - we would have stayed in any one of the rooms and will most likely sta...

My husband and I spent a charming weekend in Camden, Maine and had the great fortune to stay at the Timbercliffe Cottage. The moment we walked into the foyer it seemed as if we were transported to another era. The inn was completely restored to its original colonial essence. Dave and Karen have taken great pride, time and research to bring this cottage back to life. Karen and David were warm, inviting and eager to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing.....they did just that. The service was exceptional, the bedrooms where cozy and extremely comfortable. We were glad that the mattress was not of the colonial period ;) We always felt at home during our entire stay and have decide to take our children next year. Don't miss out on this gem.

We found the Timbercliffe Cottage B&B a perfect place to stay, if you are looking for good old New England charm. Our room was not only clean, but also decorated with an exquisite eye for detail. Someone definately did their research - the color schemes, the fabrics, the furniture, the wall hangings all reflecting Early American decor. Karen and Dave made us feel right at home. I happen to step out for the afternoon and when I returned, I found my husband sitting in front of a cozy fire reading a book. The view from my room was amazing. Talk to Dave, if you run out of things to do, as he knows everything there is to know about the area. Karen prepares a delightful breakfast, where it is served in a lovely dinning room. My husband and I are already talking about taking a little weekend get away in the spring. Thank you Karen and Dave for making our visit so enjoyable.

We received a warm welcome by Innkeepers who could have written" the book" on the subject.
The home is early American- period decorated and neat as a pin. Rooms of all sizes accommodate the needs of
individual guests. Breakfast was, in a word, "wonderful".
Timbercliffe Cottage is located in close proximity to the downtown
Camden area and yet far enough from the road for a feeling of seclusion. We really enjoyed our short stay and plan to return
with family members to experience Maine in all seasons. I was not impressed with the mention of a "view" of the bay until
I saw it from the front porch and then even better, from out of the second floor windows..it was so beautiful, with the Autumn
sky at dawn. My family and I highly recommend Timbercliffe for the quintessential B'nB experience.

Room Tip: Read the descriptions on their web-site, they are accurate . If you need a large room, choose The C...
