“Kayak to the island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

We have kayaked to this island from Camden Harbor several times. It is a delightful paddle through and around moored boats. We follow the coast and pick a calm day. The lighthouse is also visible from the land, but tricky to locate the trail to view it from shore. The kayaks also provide a great shore line view only seen from incoming or outgoing vessels. We have also passed this light in previous visits as we entered the harbor in our cabin cruiser. Hint: If you take one of the schooner cruises you will have a birds eye view.

“Great Quiet and Secluded Wooded Overlook for Curtis Lighthouse (from the mainland)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2014

We stayed at the Hartstone Inn (Separate review - FANTASTIC place!) and the owners suggest this as a walk - it can be walked to from Hartstone but it would be better to drive a bit closer - there's little parking (really none) at the public access but you can find street parking nearby. (We've been to Hartstone twice so far and are headed back again in May, so this prompted this review). We've only been here off season so it may be a mad-house in town during festivals and summer season.
Nonetheless, visit this place, take a lunch, and enjoy the great view and quiet. Take a tripod to capture couples pictures with the light behind as it is out of the center of town and there will likely be NO passerbys!
Just find yourself at the intersection of Bay View and Beacon and walk towards the sea - you'll see a small sign and a trail with a short relatively flat trail to the overlook.
