“A River Runs Under It!”
Reviewed 21 March 2013

Last weekend we drove up the Maine Coast to Camden. This famous but quaint village is a huge destination in the summer but pretty quiet now. We did not have a reservation but knocked on the door of The Inn at Camden Place located literally over the Megunticook River that runs through downtown Camden. This historic hotel only has 11 spacious rooms and we got one of them for under $100! Our room overlooked the river and facing East meant great karma when we woke in the morning to bright sunshine threading through the wood plantation shutters. I would give this hotel 4 1/2 stars and definitely would go back!

Room Tip: Speak directly to the innkeeper.

LOVED my stay here: Room overlooked the river that flows under the town-gorgeous! 2 minute alk to everything-shops, harbor, restaurants. Nicest place I've stayed in throughout Midcoast Maine. It IS an Inn: don't expect a body at the front desk 24/7. But everything you need is right there. The room was huge- suite size, actually. Bed was cozy, heat fine, quiet.
Bottom line: this will be the ONLY place stay on my frequent trips to midcoast Maine!

Room Tip: Ak for room #1-1st floor, a river view you will not find anywhere else. It flows UNDER the building!

I went to Camden, MN, last November with my wife to spend 5 days there.

We arrived at 12:00 PM and the hotel doors were locked, nobody was inside the hotel and we were confused about it, my wife noticed a small box on the door that contains the keys to open the main door and our room with a post it note explaining how to enter to the hotel and make sure we keep the door locked... it was so funny to see that, never heard or see something like that in my entire life..!!!!

We were alone at the hotel for the entire week, the hotel is very and extremely clean, beautiful rooms and decoration, never felt insecure because is a police station just in front of this place.

The hotel is only two blocks for the main street and you can walk to the harbor and restaurants.

There is a noise outside the room that is very annoying and I didn't find the source of it but I noticed it comes from the bathroom so I closed the door to minimize it... I was reading another review and somebody else noticed the problem, it is very annoying.

The second day of our stay we came back and nobody did the cleaning in our room, we called the number they provided in case or emergency or questions and a gentlemen told us the person in charge to do the cleaning never showed up, he gave us a $35 discount for it in our total invoice.

I like the place is very close to restaurants, main street and very clean.

We will be back this summer again.

Room Tip: Ask about the noise form that bathroom, I think I used the Acadia room, or choose another room far f...

We were two couples traveling together and had two rooms. Room #3 Acadia Queen and #5.Acadia King. Here's what we look for when we travel and the inn met: Great location on a quiet street behind the main thorough fare. Both rooms were spacious and super clean. The bed was super comfortable and the bedding was soft. Here’s what exceeded our expectations: The young women that called us prior to arrival and worked the front desk was welcoming, professional, efficient, and charming. A nice welcome and good check experience. The lounge with self –serve coffee and tea service and fridge was convenient. Pubic space allowed for us to mingle and relax outside of our room. No complaints. Especially at the great price.

Room tip: Room #3 was spacious and bright with 4 windows letting in light and fresh air. The view facing the bridge was quite lovely. As one poster mentioned, the ducks can be noisy and we didn’t mind at all. It added to the charm. It starts around 8 in the morning and stopped at night. Room #5 faces the other direction (the rushing water of the creek and the parking lot) and therefore, no ducks. Both Acadia rooms are their quit spacious. There are even more spacious rooms at higher category. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the flower bridge has great views. Room #3 has no one above you and four windows letti...

In short, you won't find another place right in downtown Camden walking distance to everything at well under $200 per night for rooms that match the quality of this inn.

There are a lot of nit-picking negatives I can mention, such as ripped and pealing wall paper, very strangely designed rooms that make you wonder what the architect was thinking, and ducks in the river right below our room that started quacking at the crack of dawn and woke us up, but... when I think about the price I paid for the room the overall impression I'm left with is one of satisfaction. Aside from the price and location, other positives include an amazing bagel place attached to the inn called Bagel Cafe, friendly staff, and easy/ample packing.

If you're looking to stay in Camden at a decent place that isn't too expensive, this is it. If you're looking to walk into the inn and/or your room and say, wow, this is very nice, look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Select a room that faces the parking lot at the front of the inn to avoid being awakened by quacking...

Absolutely loved this Inn! The Inn is along the river and the rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious. We were able to secure most every room except 2 for our daughter's wedding - we had our family and wedding party stay. We reserved the two main floor rooms which were perfect - they have their own hallway and so convenient for our wedding guests to come & visit. Everyone raved about the Inn and how convenient it was to everything. The lobby area has its own spacious sitting area with a dining room table, large refrigerator for guests, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and all the dishes/flatware you would need to entertain. The room is filled with several sofa chairs/ottomans and a flat screen TV. We set up breakfast each morning for our guests - they would all come down and help themselves. Our guests were extremely happy with the Inn at Camden Place and we couldn't have had a better weekend. Thank you Nick for all your help in organizing our stay and our guests stay. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this Inn to anyone.

Room Tip: Great Location, Large and Clean Rooms, Highly Recommend if staying in Camden.

Great location just a block off the Main Ave. Rooms were very spacious. Staff was wonderful. Really interesting because a river runs underneath. Loved listening to the river in the evening. Walking distance to most everything in the Camden area for shopping, restaurants and a wonderful city park looking over the harbor. Restaurant has all your needs if you want to dine in as far as glassware, plates, etc. Have a coffee machine to make your own coffee but no to go cups for on the go. Great Bagel Shop next door. Almost forgot to mention how comfortable the beds were!!

Room Tip: Spacious room and comfortable beds.
