“"Charming"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2014

On arriving at the Belmont you are drawn by it's warmth and charm. My husband and I were tired and cold. Anita greeted us,lit the fireplace, offered something to drink and within minutes we were warm and very relaxed. The rooms are comfortable and quiet providing a good nights rest. Anita's attention to detail, creative and accommodating breakfasts, informative and accurate scope of the town and its restaurants make the Belmont a place you look forward to return to again and again.

My wife and I spent four nights at the Belmont Inn recently. Having been to Camden many times over the years this was our first stay with Anita. We stayed in the Hideaway room located on the third floor. The inn and our room were spotless and the dusting of snow we had, combined with the Christmas lights and tree, made for a festive experience. Anita was responsive and readily available and her breakfasts were excellent. The Belmont Inn is an elegant older home located off the main street leading into town so noise is not a problem yet it is still close enough that, weather permitting, one can easily walk down to the shops and restaurants in the main part of town. We would gladly recommend this inn and innkeeper to our friends and relatives.

Lovely, lovely, lovely...
Just returned form a short weekend getaway to visit the Farnsworth Museum in nearby Rockland, Me.
Room was spotless and comfortable, Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, Anita, the Innkeeper was helpful and generous with suggestions to round out our trip. Would recommend highly and hope to return soon.

Belmont Inn isn’t just our favorite B&B in Maine, but now that our favorites in CA & Hawaii are closed, this is probably our favorite in the USA! Some people go to B&Bs for three reasons: They want to interact with people (and possibly get great local recommendations from the friendly innkeeper), They want a more comfortable setting that’s typically easier in/out than a big hotel or for the food. Then they make their decision about which B&B to stay in based on what their driving motivator is. Well folks, Belmont Inn delivers on all three.

The décor / dining room isn’t amazing but it is definitely clean, comfortable and is not too frou-frou which pleases my husband. The main structural selling point for this Inn is the gorgeous, huge wraparound porch, which overlooks a gorgeous garden, a perfect place to sit and read. (Wifi works on the porch too). There is a complimentary self-service tea station and water/wine/beer cooler (cash bar but grocery prices not bar prices). The rooms are spacious enough to spread out and they have (THANK GOD!) King sized beds. I’m not sure why these aren’t more prevalent, but they’re not in New England. The beds are very comfortable - it was the ONLY night in Maine where I had a good night's sleep - with nice linens and robes. The bathrooms are a little small (like staying with Mom) and well-equipped.
The food was delicious in the morning and the company was lovely. We had a great time taking our time eating a leisurely breakfast with homemade blueberry biscuits and jam with eggs and bacon. The coffee was strong enough for my taste and helped avoid a hangover from out drinking beer and playing darts with the local Mainers- woo hoo!

However the selling point of this place is Anita’s service! Anita has an effusive, bubbling personality and despite being from California originally has extensive knowledge of the Down East area and knows every place to go around impossibly adorable Camden. We wished we had an extra day or two to explore all of her recommendations and if we ever go back, we’ll definitely plan more than just 1 night in Camden so we can take advantage of her warm hospitality and great knowledge. It was funny actually- both us and another couple wanted seafood and Camden has great food but not necessarily on the water. She warned us it might be mediocre and sho nuff, it was, and we wished we had gone to her recommended restaurants within walking distance. At least the view was nice! Anyway it was definitely like staying with your favorite aunt – she won’t judge you but provides you with warm motherly hugs and support. :)

Room Tip: The Allen Room is the best and it's reasonably priced!

My husband and I had a most delightful stay at the Belmont Inn last weekend. The inn is beautiful and welcoming. It was a pleasure to sit out on the front porch overlooking the quiet side street, our room was spacious and comfortable, the food was absolutely delicious and served in the charming 3 season porch and the Inn's location is fabulous - we could walk to downtown Camden, which is charming and fun in it's own rights, in a matter of minutes. Anita, the proprietor and innkeeper made us feel very welcome and was full of great suggestions for dining and things to do. I will definitely look forward to staying there again.

The home is charming and Anita is one of the friendliest people you will every meet. It is evident that she loves people and loves Camden. She is full of good recommendations for things to see and local restaurants to eat at . We were surprised by the variety of cuisine in this small Maine town. The best meal we had, though, was Anita's breakfast ... scrambled farm fresh eggs, and home baked scones warm from the oven .... WOW.
Anita will take a reservation even if you are only staying one night. That was the situation we were in due to a tight time schedule. I was sorely disappointed that we couldn't stay longer. We loved Camden! So if we get a chance to visit again, we will stay longer at the Belmont.

Anita is just phantastic! Her hospitality beats everything we have experienced during our 2 week vacation. Unfortunately our family of four just spent one night at the Belmont, we had two beautiful and spacious rooms, inviting and comfortable.
The inn is just a five minute walk from the harbour, very quietly located.
Anita made various recommendations including a dining recommendation which turned out to have been great advice.
Breakfast was nice and again prepared with lots of love. Anita is just darling and takes care of every little detail.
I highly recommend to all travellers who stay in the area to stay at the Belmont, we haven't felt more welcome at any other place, including the kids who just loved her.
