Hartstone Inn & Hideaway

My wife, daughter and I spent 3 nights at the Hartstone Inn in August. It is conveniently located very near central Camden. Our two rooms were nicely furnished and the common areas were great for mingling with other guests.
The inn is owned by Michael Salmon who is also the chef. The breakfasts are unsurpassed and the dinners outstanding. Overall a great value. Steve McClure. Charlotte

We stayed in the Viola Room in the Hideaway instead of the main Inn, but it was very quiet and the room was large, with a sitting area and a nice bathroom with a great shower. Breakfasts were two courses and very delicious and the tables are set beautifully. The best part of the inn is the lovely and gracious service. You really feel like you are in a 5 star hotel.

My wife and I were so fortunate to stay at this Inn last June. I had read the many fine reviews and now know why. The people here are so kind and welcoming. The food here is outrageously good, the rooms very clean and full of character. Easily the best food I have had at an Inn and I would rate it as good as any restaurant we have in our home city. Perfectly prepared with a very thoughtful wine list to match. Comfortable, Loads of stress relief had here and we will make it atleast an annual trek. Only drawback with this wondrous spot is the 10 hour drive to get there. Bravo to the staff, chefs and of course Chef Sulliivan for coming to Camden and having the vision to make this place so top notch....Cannot wait for next years anniversary.

Room Tip: Check out all the rooms on line. They are excellent depictions of the actual thing. The Hideaway is...

We've stayed here four times now...have only reviewed it once (our first stay), felt it was time for an update. We've never had a bad stay here.
We've stayed in the Main House and the Hideaway and have enjoyed both locations...the rooms are always exactly how they are described on the wed-site. Some people must have issues with road noise in the Main House since ear plugs and 'noise' machines are provided...however, we did not have an issue with noise during our stays in the Main the House.
The staff is welcoming and the inn keepers are very helpful, without intruding in the space/time.
Breakfast is truly a wonderful experience and we still feel dinner at the Hartstone is the best in Camden.
Highly recommended!

We stayed at the Hartstone Inn for the first time last weekend. It was all we hoped for and more. The room we had - Toscana - was quaint and very comfortable. The wine at check in was a very nice touch. We ate at the restaurant the second night. We had the Tasting Menu. Every dish was well done. Especially liked the gnocchi appetizer and the main course fish. There are cocktails every day with small hors d'oeuvres - all for $5 per drink. You can then meet other travelers who turned out to be very interesting and worth sharing some time with. The area is great. We went on a long hike in the state park. And I forgot to mention the breakfasts which are included with the room price. Very good and not just normal fare. Thoughtfully prepared. All in all, the Inn is well worth the price and drive. We travel a lot and this is at the top of our list!

Room Tip: Toscana was over the front door and on the street but the street was quiet and we slept with the win...

I stayed at the Hartstone Inn last week en route to visit family in Nova Scotia. The accommodation and food far surpassed my expectations. The staff were friendly and very helpful. This will be my stop anytime I am in Camden.

We stayed here for seven nights and enjoyed having it as our base. The owners and staff are very customer focused and very friendly. They are helpful if you need directions or advice as to were or what to do. The rooms are neat and are and have that Maine old look. They have a great place outside by the parking lot to sit and enjoy the flowers and scenery. If you want a gourmet restaurant and food, you have it here. I had the greatest crusted cod ever and my wife had their steak. Service is excellent. It is a must to stay here and eat here. Every morning we had their special made breakfast served by the owner Mary Jo.

Room Tip: Stay in the Tuscany or Pairs rooms in the main Inn.
