I started coming here when i was 6 years old. I am always happy to recommend it to people coming down east.
My suggestion come at low tide and stay till the tide comes back. Super fun running through the washing waves to shore.

Thank Christian F

A must do while visiting Deer isle...can't recommend this hike highly enough! Definately time it with low tide and bring your camera for some incredible shots!

We went hiking in August. Even in the fog, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of this location. Be sure to time your walk out to Barred Island with the tide.

A pretty hike through the forest to a wonderful beach and island accessible at all but high tide. Parking is limited and the hike is listed as 1 mile, but seems a good big mile.

Soft well marked trails to visit the spruce-fir coastal forests. Lovely stretch of sand at low tide with tidal pools to explore. Good place to site birds and occasionally sea mammals. Love the way the sun comes through the trees on the tail and warms the sand and the rocks on the beach. Kind of cool for swimming but great to wade at low tide.
