“Close but far, far away”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Very comfy beds, wonderful food, beautiful garden, lovely area, and it's really easy to get to but seems very far out in the country. Highly recommended. Lesley and Robert are terrific hosts and very helpful with suggestions of places to visit and local places to eat.

A real find. Although close to the M5 the location is rural and peaceful. Lesley and Robert make you very welcome and the room is very clean and comfortable. The garden is a beautiful oasis. The best reason to stay is Lesley's superb cooking. We would certainly stay again.

I have been staying at this B&B for around 7 years. Lesley and Robert Orr are ideal hosts. The property is tucked away down a very quite lane with a stunning gardens and with views of the Church on the Hill. Large comfortable rooms and substantial breakfasts to start off the day. Lesley is a professional Chef and, if booked in advance, will provide excellent evening meals. Bring your own wine and if you forget they have a good choice of wines.
Overall very easy comfortable and above all reliable B &BN with hight standards that I have experienced over the years

A chance find in a B&B guide, how I wish all chance finds were like this. Minutes off the M5 but quiet and rural Causeway Cottage is a gem. Robert and Lesley are a lovely hospitable couple with a lovely cottage home. We were travelling to Devon to pick up our new pup and treated ourselves to a quiet night away before mayhem struck at home. Lesley cooked a wonderful supper and we gorged ourselves on two marvellous desserts AND managed a full English the next day. Thank you for a convivial and relaxing albeit too short, stay. We will return...(we are training Bentley to sleep in the car, Lesley!)

I spent three nights at Causeway Cottage for a friend/family visit in Wellington, West Buckland is a perfect location being just off the M5, but not noisy at all.

Greeted by Lesley and Robert who are friendly and charming. My bedroom, the blue room, was spacious with a double and a single bed, comfortable, clean and warm. The bathroom had a good shower and everywhere was spotless.

Breakfast was delicious with stewed fruit and rhubarb, yoghurt, home made bread which is a passion of Lesley's. Full English or any combination thereof available. Even rooibos tea (I always carry my own) which was a lovely surprise!

Lesley will cook supper, I didn't take her up on this as was with friends and family but I bet it would be delicious as she runs a cookery school.

It would be a great place to take over all the rooms with a group of friends or family and explore the area. A real home from home.

Well located and a joy to stay there.

Room Tip: I has the Blue Room which was great - didn't see the others but look on their website.

We had a very enjoyable one night stay at Causeway Cottage as we were attending a wedding at Tonedale House.

Lesley made us feel very welcome and could not do enough for us. She was kind enough to let us drop our bags off before going to the wedding in the afternoon.

We stayed in the Terracotta room which is a twin with super views of the nearby charge. Whilst there is no TV (quite welcome actually) there is tea and coffee facilities and free wifi in the guest room downstairs. The room and en-suite are both very large, bright and clean.

The B&B is beautiful

Whilst the M5 is not far away we could not hear it at any point during our stay.

Excellent choice at breakfast with everything homemade as well. Delicious.

Lesley was also able to recommend some good walks in the surrounding area.

Would definitely return.

We have just spent two nights at Causeway Cottage - everything previous reviewers have said is true! The bedrooms were a delight, so clean, comfortable and full of character, Lesley made us so welcome, greeting us with tea and home made apple cake (really light and delicious!)
The breakfast was wonderful and set us up for the day. The location is excellent, so close to the M5, but incredibly quiet and relaxing. We were travelling with friends for a short break and we all agreed that we couldn't have found anywhere we liked more. A lovely area to explore - we will definitely be back!!
