“Five Gables is amazing!”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

This B & B is one of the best we have stayed at! It is lovely, with a beautiful view and so many special touches. First they have tea with cookies each afternoon and serve cordials in the early evening and in the morning an incredible breakfast. The rooms are just wonderful, so relaxing and so beautifully decorated yet very comfortable. A must if you are on the coast in Maine- worth the trip and lovely hosts to boot!

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong with any room but 3rd floor has lovely view and great window seat...

The Five Gables Inn is a delight. This was our second stay, both for only one night. Next time we really must stay for 2 or 3 nights! We have now stayed on the first floor and the third floor. If you don't mind stairs, the third floor rooms with window seats in the gables are lovely, (as long as you are not too tall). Both rooms we have stayed in are small, but there is a lovely common living room and wrap-around porch. The attention to detail is one of the things that make this inn special. Each room is different - this stay our room (#15) had a container of bath salts in the large bathroom off the small bedroom. The bedroom had a lovely scene painted on the ceiling (by a local artist). The breakfasts are absolutely delicious! But the inn offers not only breakfast. Tea is served with fresh cookies every afternoon, and there were chocolates and cordials left out for us when we got back late from dinner. A wonderful, quiet place to relax - We will be back!

Room Tip: Look on the website - all are pictured. Third floor gable rooms are perhaps not great for tall peop...

We needed a quiet place to unwind and be near the water. This was it. Our Innkeepers Susan and Steve were courteous, helpful, friendly, engaging, knowledgeable and their cooking was outrageous. the accommodations were first class and the views overlooking the harbor were soothing and wonderful. Every day was a culinary adventure when it came to breakfast and there were delicious home baked snacks every afternoon. There is a porch in the front where you can dine or just sit and be at peace with the environment. There is no noise at night and the decorating and care given to the Inn is apparent. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We stayed 2 nights and the inn had a full house. I was surprised at how quiet it was. We stayed in the main house in Rooms 2 & 3. We enjoyed room 2 best. It had more room and a larger bathroom. Room 3 is very cozy so if you like space maybe choose another room. The inn keepers are great and friendly. Helpful with area restaurants, too. Beds were comfortable but a little on the firm side. Inn and rooms are very clean and tastefully decorated.

This is an amazing place...a complete "10"! Susan and Steve are immaculate innkeepers who have thought of every detail in making the Five Gables perfect for a relaxing, restorative get-away. The inn is clean and tastefully decorated with a wide wrap around porch that invites one to sit and just enjoy the beautiful views of East Boothbay Harbor. And the breakfast..wow! Gourmet, healthy and just plain yummy. We will definitely be back to the Five Gables and will recommend it to our friends. Congratulations Susan and Steve on a "home run!"

I cannot say enough good things about this inn. My husband and I stayed there for four nights to begin a three week trip up to Canada staying at bed and breakfasts. This one definitely topped them all. We arrived in the evening and were offered homemade chocolate covered strawberries and coffee. Every afternoon freshly baked cookies and tea were put out for the guests. In the evening, there was a selection of cordials which we could sample in front of a roaring fire. Every thoughtful item we might have needed was provided in our rooms...from a sewing kit to Q-tips and cotton balls to lotion and shampoo and conditioner to bottled water. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless and tastefully decorated...many lovely details to notice. We talked about the breakfasts for the whole trip...nothing compared to the five or so unique and delicious options we were offered on the buffet table each morning. Detail is the word that comes to mind. Susan prepared the food prepared with health, flavor, and beauty in mind. The coffee was superior. The outdoor porch, where we ate breakfasts was a wonderful place to relax, read, and swing in the hammock. Steve and Susan were friendly and helpful. Five Gables Inn will always be our standard of excellence now.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 10, which had windows on two walls, and was full of light. Second floor. Large bat...

A relaxing place to stay with welcoming Innkeepers. We followed their suggestions on things to do and were very pleased. The breakfast - particularly the mushroom crusted quiche was delicious. Would definitely go there again
