Okay, so this is not the Ritz. But why would you be looking for that here? Ocean Point is a community of people who have been coming for generations and if you're not lucky enough to own a place, the Ocean Point Inn is almost as good. Maybe better if you don't want to worry about property upkeep and taxes! They offer a wide range of rooming choices from motel-style rooms to cottages to rooms above the inn. We were lucky to have an internet special available the last weekend of June and got over $100 off a room with a view and deck in the West Wind unit. The buildings are white and the insides are comfy, if not luxurious. The check-in area is charming and the staff very helpful. If you're looking for a relaxing stay in an area that offers endless outdoor possibilities, this is the place to be.

It's probably been ten years since we started spending our annual vacations with the staff at OPI, and now consider ourselves regulars. The staff know the family by name and don't run when they see us coming. The inn is a series of buildings offering different amenities. We prefer the full housekeeping suites with kitchens. The Inn has been around for a long time. The buildings are older but have been well maintained and updated. But you stay at OPI for the views, which are unsurpassable. I head outside to porch or deck with my coffee first thing, and I stay outside in the evening as long I can. The sound of ocean, fog horns and lobster boats a constant companion. It's a beautiful place to sit and stare, to get up and go for a walk along the shore, to spend a few hours by the heated pool and hot tub, or to fish off the dock. Or swim, if you dare - the water's frigid. In the evening we hang out in the bar area where we are well taken care of and where we often have dinner. The food is good, the desserts are fabulous and the sunsets gorgeous - when there's no fog. We don't even consider staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: Sea Winds and the Lodge rooms are close to the inn and have great outdoor spaces to sit and stare at...

Stayed here initially 3 days then added 3 more days and then another 3 days after finding this place accidentally last year in September..Perfectly located on the water with gorgeous views and shear peace and quiet. Breakfast and dinner in season which started a day after we left, but that only made us discover the culinary greatness of the whole area...Rooms are comfortable and kept clean by the staff ,and the pool and jacuzzi look very appealing..We were never really here during the day as we discovered the area completely in the 9 days we spent there...

My husband and I stayed here in October as part of a wedding party. This was a wonderful choice! We stayed in a cottage which was cozy, comfortable and private, but just a few steps from the restaurant and the pier. Watched a gorgeous sunset (best I've ever seen...fiery red!) out the restaurant windows during the rehearsal dinner. It was a very romantic setting and the food was delicious. The wedding was down the street a little bit, and the reception in Boothbay Harbor, but the Ocean Point was a great choice to serve as "home base" for all of us for this destination wedding.

We stayed Columbus weekend in the penthouse although the décor was somewhat dated the unit was clean and comfortable. The location is THE BEST! Peaceful, quiet, walking path and magnificent sun sets over the bay. The restaurant was also very good.

Only thing was at checkout we were told by the innkeeper that because Maine state tax had gone up 1% AFTER our reservation was made we owed a small additional charge for our stay. This did not seem correct because our reservation was paid in full PRIOR to our arrival.

We loved Ocean Point. We arrived last year in the pouring rain and it rained all weekend, however we loved it. We came back this year and we love it all the more! Ocean Point is a special place that will keep us coming back again and again. The food is wonderful, the location is amazing, the rooms are great, and the people are the best. We will be back next year.

Room Tip: We stayed in Seawinds, however there are a lot of buildings and rooms to choose from. Seawinds, esp...

We stumbled into this place because we had a coupon in a book from a visitor center in Ohio. We stayed in an economy room in a building from the 1850s. Our economy room turned out to be a 2 bedroom unit that was very comfortable. While the building was old, it had character and we enjoyed our room. However, the best feature of this property is the location. Ocean point is near the end of East Boothbay with a very private wonderful view. We liked this better that Boothbay, and you can't beat the peace and quiet of this location. There are chairs along the water, a pier, and beautiful grounds to enjoy. The restaurant at the inn was another pleasant surprise. We had dinner and enjoyed food that tasted great for a reasonable hotel price, all with a view of the ocean. Breakfast was great. We upgraded for $7/person to the buffet because it looked so much better than the free continental breakfast. It was fantastic.

The only annoyance was the Wifi which took about 30 minutes to log on in the morning (it worked fine late at night). Upon check-in, there is a warning sheet about limited bandwidth with all types of rules to limit use. Apparently this is due to the internet provider and the cost to expand bandwidth. So the hotel discourages use of Wifi. I can understand that and if it was not needed this would be a great place to escape.

It would have been nice if we could have stayed here 2-3 days, but we are on a 3 week drive through New England and Eastern Canada so we could only spend 1 night. Alas, we will have to return when we have more time.
