It was exactly a year since our last visit. This May Day bank holiday we took four of our Grandchildren , my daughter and her husband my son and his wife to be, and my Wife.
The sun was shining on our visit. We got the young ones a Thomas train flag from the station shop.
There were lots of other families enjoying themselves.
The Steam train pulled in and we all got aboard. The whistle blew and we waved to people on the Station as we chuffed off.
We enjoyed the journey up to North Thorsby and all got out there to look at the engine. After the return journey we walked down to the engine shed and saw a very big blue steam engine.
Then enjoyed a meal in the Buffet coach. To finish the grandchildren spent a good half hour in the children's playground.

This is the third year we've done the Santa train but the first in the main carriages. The event is very well run, tickets arrived promptly and the train left on time. We were well entertained during the ride with a visit from Santa and a lovely chap with an accordion, jolly elf lady and James the guard who led everyone in a sing song. We had plenty of time to visit Santa, we weren't hurried along, and the gift was value for money and age appropriate.
Would definitely recommend for children( and adults ) of all ages!

We have just been to the railway for one of their Santa Special trips and we all enjoyed it particularly our 2 grandsons. We were all impressed by the friendly staff and the happy festive atmosphere they helped to create with elves, singing, mince pies and of course Santa himself. They advertised that each child would receive a quality present from Santa and they were as good as their word with gender and age specific presents sorted out and wrapped for them. We will certainly be back for their other events throughout the year.
