My husband and I stayed for 1 night, we are moving there soon and it was the only place open in Eastport. Room very spacious, it had a double bed, refrig, microwave oven, TV, table with 2 chairs and chairs for outside. The sunrise was incredible from our balcony. It was convenient to the restaurant the Happy Crab, and Waco Diner.

After travelling from Campobello Island between seasons, we were relieved to find Motel East and that they had a room (the last one).
It was a waterfront room, but downstairs - the stairs being at the side of the building and consisting of huge pieces of granite rock placed to make a sort of stairway. There was one at each side of the building, but I did notice there was also a dirt road which also gave access.
Our room was quite large with a double bed, tv, table and two chairs, small fridge and coffee maker. Entry was by way of patio doors and it had a good view of the water (as well as a derelict building to the left and lobster dock to the right. In fact the area between the hotel and the water could do with landscaping).
The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the area was quiet allowing us a good rest.

As far a we could see there were three choices in the immediate area for evening meal. One seemed to be fine dining and was very busy, the others were bars offering seafood. We chose the Happy Crab Bar & Grill and enjoyed fried battered shrimp and fries washed down with a beer.

In the morning it was very foggy, but I could just make out a heron watching for his breakfast.
Our breakfast was taken at Blue Iris Cafe a few steps away.

My family of five stayed here and we were very comfortable. The room had two queen beds and a cot. The room was worn but clean. We would stay there again. Definitely above average for the price for 5 people.

My husband and I spent one night at the Motel East in late August 2008. We were given a room in the lowest level facing the water. We reached the room by walking from the parking lot down a set granite slabs that formed steps. I would not recommend trying to maneuver the steps in the dark or for anybody who may be unsteady on their feet as the slabs forming the steps are haphazardly stacked, inconsistently spaced, and the surfaces are uneven. For the sake of safety, older folks, people with balance issues, and young children should have assistance on the steps.

The room and bathroom were spacious, equipped with a queen bed, a couple of upholstered chairs and table, TV, microwave, refrigerator, and a couple of plastic chairs that could be taken to sit outside. The bed was sort of soft in the middle so that both my husband and I had to cling to the edges to keep from rolling into the depression.

As mentioned by other reviewers, there was no air conditioning and access to the room was through the sliding door equipped with a screen, which offered the only ventilation as there were no other windows or doors. The view from the room was of Campobello Island across the water. Off to the right a few hundred feet from the motel was a working fishing pier with a lobster pound where lobstermen unloaded their catch. Some of the equipment associated with the lobster pound was stacked outside (looked like old holding tanks?) between the motel and the water. To the left of the motel was an old brick building that appeared to be abandoned. Thus while the view across the water was lovely, the view between the motel and the water reflected a working waterfront and a town showing decades of deline - sort of sad, really. Downtown Eastport itself consisted of a few shops, some art galleries (which appeared to be closed or by appointment only), and a few restaurants. There were many empty storefronts.

What really creeped me out about the room were the bugs in the bathroom at night (they looked like tiny flies). I didn't see them when we checked in, but at night when a single bulb was left burning for a night light, there were bugs on the bathroom walls, in the tub, and on the tub surround - lots of them, not just a few - maybe 30 or so. They stayed there all night and the next morning too, so I opted to delay my shower and take one later... somewhere else.

This is a great place to stay in Eastport. We stayed for a couple of nights in late October. The room was spacious with a fridge and microwave The bathroom was large as well. We didn't have any heating issues but what we did have were great views. We were on the top floor with a balcony looking out over the bay. The room was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

This property is centally located and we could walk to just about everything. I would definitely stay here again.

We recently stayed at the Motel East. Our room was on the top floor with a balcony. As already noted, the view overlooking Campobello is absolutely beautiful.
The room was spacious and clean. Our biggest problem was a bed which felt like it should have been replaced years ago. The room was nice but needs some updating. It had a worn and tired look, but with some new linens, carpet etc could be a beautiful room.
It is handy to restaurants and the shops downtown.
