“Lovely property, a few hiccups with service”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

We REALLY liked the room- spacious, clean, nice furnishings, loved our little deck to face the river. I thought it was a great value and we really appreciated that it was one of the few places in Maine that wasn't demanding a three or four night minimum during the high season of August. Even though I'm going to complain about a couple of frustrations below, we would absolutely come back.

There were a few hiccups with service that the hotel could easily work out. First , we called ahead to tell them we'd be getting in late at night, and they gave us the code to get into our room so that was great. But we got in at 11 pm and it was pitch black- there was no signage and with a pretty sprawling campus, we had no idea where to look for our room. No one was staffing check-in, so we drove around for 10 minutes before we realized our room was the building marked "SPA" that we drove by as soon as we had turned off the road. In daylight I think we would have figured it out sooner, but some lights and better signage would go a long way.

Second, I prepaid with paypal when I booked the room and got confirmation from paypal that payment was received, but after we left the hotel they called us to say we hadn't paid. When I told them we did and I had confirmation, they asked me to email it on but warned they might have more questions. It was a little odd, I would have thought paying in advance would have made the process smoother instead of bumpier.

Room Tip: Very cute decks second floor rooms facing the river.

I stay here every year @ Christmas time, when I am visiting friends and family. I have stayed in the suites that have own entrance and a kitchen. I have also stayed in the Inn, my fav. is the inn. Very comfy, cozy and private. The décor is very nice, the rooms are spacious and they have a fridge and a microwave. Each room is different but they are all cozy, I was stuck in my room for 24hr.s because of a snowstorm and was extremely comfortable, and the restaurant food was delicious, great for takeout. My dog has visited once with me and he absolutely loved it too.!! My fav. part is the late night check in that's available.

Room Tip: The Inn has the most comfy, cozy rooms

We stayed in RCI unit 207 which is roadside and in the bottom level. You can hear everything from the upstairs unit, with people walking back and forth, floors squeaking and even voices although not loud enough to understand the conversation but still annoying. There is NO INTERNET access unless you sit in the restaurant/bar next door. Hard to believe in this day and age but no warning about that. RCI's management group is different from that of the resort so if you have no advance notice of where you are to go, the new arrival centre across the street does not have your details. We received an email the same afternoon as we arrived but of course that didn't get to us as we had no internet!!! The other mgmt. group was kind enough to call the RCI rep and we finally got the information we needed to check in. Not a good start. The room was nice but of course no view and the drapes hardly cover the windows so when the local highway department that was resurfacing the bridge decided to work at night with strobe lights they shone in the room all night and kept us awake. This occurred for two nights in a row. The unit itself was nicely done but had no place for toiletries in the bathroom, a tiny fridge in which the freezer was so frozen up it wouldn't make ice and minimal amenities. There were no instructions as to how to run any of the electronics and the outdoor lights didn't work so very hard to enter the lengthy room code in the dark.
The best part of the resort was the adjacent restaurant/bar next door where the staff was very attentive, the food was good and service level always at the top of their game so that was a pleasant surprise. All in all it is a reasonably central location to make day trips from and only an hour from Portland if one needs to find amenities of a big city. There are an endless supply of antique stores in the area so you can shop til you drop.
In our mind RCI has again dropped the ball and seems to be regressing in their quality as far as accommodation levels go.

We called very last minute for a room. In most places, this would not be a problem, but this is nowheresville Maine, people. Not only did they help me out in a snowstorm, but they were pet friendly and the room was like new. I know this is offseason, but 99 dollars bought us a suite with two queen beds, a seperate living room, a galley kitchen and a beautiful bathroom. It also looked out at the Sheepscot River, a tidal saltwater river that looks as much like the Atlantic as any river you have ever seen - although beautiful and interesting as it looks across at historic Wiscasset. These people go out of their way for you. They take great pride in the property. It could not be cleaner. It was comfortable and well appointed. Their is a wonderful restaurant on premises. Special place in this tiny town.

Just stayed there 4 nights. We wanted to leave after one. The place appeared new, but the bed was like something from the 60's - rock hard with a soft center so no matter what, you could not have a good night's sleep. The pillows were also awful. The room was lovely to look at - granite counters, nice furnishings, and clean - but it was not sound proofed so you could clearly hear the room next to you. You could also hear every truck and car on the road. The restaurant was good and we enjoyed eating there. The room had a defective smoke alarm. We ended up removing it ourselves as the chirping was driving us nuts and gave the alarm over to the office in the morning the first day. It was NEVER REPLACED the entire stay.

Room Tip: do not get a room near the main road!

We recently enjoyed a 3 day stay at Sheepscot Harbour Village & Resort, it was wonderful!

Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite was in the Inn on the first floor. It is spacious, clean, and very lovely. Our friends rented a 2 bedroom cottage and it too, was clean, very modern, bright, and cute! The property is very nice, quiet, well-kept. The management is wonderful also, very accommodating to our requests.

We enjoyed drinks and dinner at the Davis Island grill; fabulous steamers, yummy lobster bisque and very reasonable drink prices. The service was excellent as well. We highly recommend a visit to this wonderful property. Thank you!

Private new cabin on the river. Each one owned separate so they are all different. Very clean . Located off rte 1 for easy travel to most mid coast sites. Peaceful wooded grounds . Restaraunt on premise serving good food . Very pet friendly. No outdoor pool . Indoor pool is small not inviting.
