A very nice varied menu, attentive service, delicious food, large portions, nice decor, a great place for a casual meal for you or the whole family. Great for those visiting Acadia National Park.

We are in Bar Harbor for 5 days as part of a 30 day New England trip... so we have been to a fair number of restaurants in the NE area. We don't have Governors in the South and it was recommended by the folks that checked us in. We are traveling with 2 boys 10 and 11 and it is definitely kid friendly. On Thursdays they have someone walking around making balloon animals, which seemed to be a hit for all the kids. The bakery is tops and so were the burgers. The entire menu looked decent and the prices are right. If you order a salad in this place and then complain about the food it's your own fault for going to Governor's for a salad.....

One reviewer said, "Don't believe the crummy reviews." You can believe this one. I had the same experience as another reviewer with the Caesar salad. In my case, the chicken wasn't spoiled. It was rubbery and undercooked. There was almost no cheese in the salad, and the dressing tasted out-of-the-bottle. My daughter had clam chowder, which looked unappetizing. When I asked her about it, she said it was edible but didn't taste very "chowdery." My dinner roll was good. I should have just ordered some of their bakery's tempting bread or desserts. If I must think of one good thing to say, the model train winding around the ceiling was cute.

Amazing bakery with many sweet choices and fresh bread. Had dinner and it was delicious. Try the meatloaf and the haddock. Very generous with the desserts. One dessert can easily be shared by two.
