Ate here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was back the next week for another excellent meal. The restaurant is new but seems like its been there forever. Delicious steak panini and cheese and sausage plate.

The Cellar has only been open a few months, but they have achieved a level of excellence in that short time. We were impressed with every course. A sophisticated spinach and rosemary soup was a great start, followed by fresh cherry stone clams with champagne mignonette. They ran out of oysters, but in a small restaurant, occasional shortages are to be expected. The sautéed duck breast was far from ordinary. It was perfectly cooked and served on a bed of puréed apples and parsnips with dried apricots. Braised Brussels sprouts completed the dish. My wife's small plate of roasted quail was probably one of the best values on the menu. Beautiful presentation. Service was courteous and helpful, but one additional staff member would help to improve the flow. This place will be packed in season. Make your reservations early.

Almost everyone that had the good fortune to visit the incredible space that once housed the restaurant Cleonice was thunderstruck when they moved up the street into another space. Customers felt abandoned as their favorite eating space was now dark and empty. Cleonice took their considerable culinary talent up the street but they left behind something that only comes around a few times in a lifetime, a comfortable space that becomes a destination in itself. A new personality has taken over this magical spot yet it was was with considerate skepticism that my wife and I returned, fearing that anything less than the former culinary effort would tarnish the space encouraging us never to return and leave us with only memories of what was. Now, after this long introduction, I am happy to announce the new restaurant is not only a great success but they have introduced a raw bar to the area as well as another sophisticated kitchen which is turning out brilliant food. They have brought us back to Ellsworth with a smile on our face.

My husband and I came in here last week and had a fantastic meal. We tried a cheeseboard , that our server assisted us in selecting. For dinner I had the stuffed haddock they had on special and my husband had the filet. Both were amazing! They had a great wine selection and even have a wine flight which was great to go with my courses. Our server was friendly and attentive. Its so nice to have somewhere new to go eat at in Ellsworth that is more fine dining. We will be back soon.

A local recommended The Cellar a new restaurant downtown, we were looking for a drink and a quick bite. We ate here last week and were pleasantly surprised with the menu offerings. Shared a cheese plate and drank some local beers at the bar. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the area, the rest of the staff were also talkative and answered a few questions we had. While we didn't get a chance to try any more of the food on this visit, but the menu selection was very creative and sounded delicious and the lunch paninis looked incredible we will definitely be stopping in for lunch before we leave town.
