My boyfriend and I recently visited the Harraseeket Inn for a much needed long weekend getaway and were so happy with our choice! We booked the Steal Away Deluxe package which included " three nights lodging, dinner for two: one night in the Maine Dining Room and one night at the Broad Arrow Tavern, full buffet breakfast each morning, and afternoon tea each day...and comes complete with a fireplace and Jacuzzi." There was also a bottle of wine and a fruit and cheese selection waiting in our room. This package was an unbelieveable value! Before planning this trip I did an exhaustive search of hundred's of B&B's and Inns in New England and could not find one single package that could complete with it.
We opted to forgo the deluxe King room because we wanted to have a jacuzzi bath in the bedroom so we chose a queen deluxe room in the carriage house that had that option instead (the king rooms have jacuzzi's but they are in the bathroom), and we absolutely loved our room! It was quaint and cozy and perfect for the two of us. I really enjoyed taking bubblebath's with the warm glow of the fire. The fireplace was wonderful and they had it all set up for us when we got there, all we had to do was strike the match! The bed and pillows were so comfortable and the sheets were luxurious.
We had dinner the first night in the Main Harvest Dining room, and I have never had better service in my life! Carlos, our waiter treated us like royalty and really made the night memorable. He was attentive and helpful without being obtrusive and he was knowledgable and friendly. I cannot speak highly enough of his service, and I can honestly say that in over 15 years of travel and dining out I have never been treated better. My boyfriend could not stop talking about it all weekend and we have both decided that we will make many trips back to relive that experience.
The food was amazing as well and there are NO RESTRICTIONS with the prepaid meal package which is very rare. We had the Chateaubriand and it was amazing! So moist and tender it practically melts in your mouth accompianied by a beautifull assortment of seasonal vegetables. It was served tableside which was a nice treat and everything about the dinner was perfect.
We really enjoyed the Tavern as well, the ribs were amazing as was the spinach dip and the drinks. However, the service was not exceptional. It was busy both nights we ate there so I expected the food to take a while, but both of the waitresses we had really only came to our table once to take our order and then to drop off food. We weren't able to get drink refills or anything else. Like I said, they were really busy, so I didn't really hold it against them very much, but considering the excellent service we had in the Maine Dining Room, it was a little disappointing.
The breakfast buffet was delicious as well. The vegetable frittata was perfect and there was a wonderful selection. The freshly squeezed orange juice was outstanding! It tasted like sunshine in a glass. The tea was also nice, although when we got there it was a little too crowded for our tastes, but that only goes to show how popular it is!
Overall, it was a perfect getaway! The shops are a short walk, the staff we all friendly and helpful and the experience was relaxing and romantic. I had a wonderful time at the Harraseeket Inn and I would highly reccomend it to everyone. We will go back there again and again.
