“A true gem in Maine!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014 via mobile

The Harraseeket Inn is a true gem. The hotel is situated in Freeport Maine, known to some as the home of LL Bean, which flagship store is in walking distance.

The Inn is a beautiful old Inn in immaculate state with superb room finishing. It features two restaurants which both seem very nice. We dines in the bistro where we enjoyed our fresh lobster in a very lively nice atmosphere.

The staff is very friendly, the hotel has this old-chic style and the place is really lively, so no worry for an old stuffed inn with nothing to do.

I have visited historic inns in many places and this is one of my top picks.

Thank you for a great stay to the friendly staff!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Harraseeket Inn on Saturday night and it was amazing! They have a 24 hour front desk so our 10 PM check-in was no problem. We stayed in the Carriage House and our room was perfectly quaint - complete with a surprise tub! Bathroom was clean and updated, and even provided a make-up remover towelette (thank goodness, because I forgot mine!). The room even came with a fireplace, making me wish it was the middle of winter so we could cozy up next to it! A 5-minute walk from downtown this Inn is in the perfect location. The attached Tavern has a fire pit at night which is great with a glass of wine. Plenty of parking.

I need to give a whole separate paragraph for the included breakfast! Served from 7-10:30 AM, their breakfast is absolutely incredible. Buffet-style scrambled eggs, frittata, french toast, amazing breakfast potatoes, bacon, toast and many toppings, fruit, the list goes on! Not to mention a whole array of breakfast breads (for gluten eaters and GF eaters alike!). Their selection of teas was also great.

The only reason I gave this a 4 star is because the room layout was a little strange. Many slanted ceilings made it hard for a tall person, and the wallpaper definitely needed updating. Other than that, and absolutely great stay. I look forward to returning!!

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay! The second floor rooms in the Carriage House are a bit odd; that cape was built in the 1700's and the eaves do slope. We apologize for the inconvenience that presented during your stay. The Carriage House use to be a stage stop between Portland and Brunswick. The passengers would be fed by Deborah Rose Dillingham while her husband tended the horses. A bit of local history! Thank you for your review and we hope to see you again soon!

This place has a lovely ambiance and fantastic Sunday brunch buffet. The price is a bit high but it is all you can eat and the lobster just kept flowing so well worth the price. A nice quiet location in Freeport which is getting much too touristy.

We gathered here to celebrate a special occasion. It was a perfect place for our family. We could enjoy each other and be in this beautiful place where our hosts took great care of us. Enjoyed the afternoon tea, the outdoor patio with drinks, the dinner, and the breakfast; and our rooms were not only beautiful but comfortable. I particularly liked the scones, and our gluten-free relatives loved the brownies.

Room Tip: Rooms on the same side as 307.

I stayed here the night of August 2. The Inn was sold out and the restaurants were busy. Nevertheless I received a warm and friendly welcome. The food and service was good. I will definitely plan on staying again.

Visited for our 35th anniversary - first trip to Maine. Room had a Jacuzzi; bed was comfy and sheets were top end. Dinner at the Maine Dining room may have been worth the trip by itself. The staff could not have been nicer. The Inn was walking distance to downtown Freeport and to the LL Bean flagship store.
If this hotel was closer to Chicago, I'm sure we would be back more.

We were so looking forward to our stay at this Inn, based on what we had seen on-line. While the location was excellent for walking to the key shops & restaurants in Freeport, the Inn itself was very dissappointing. We were given a room in the newer section that totally lacked abience or charm. We could have been staying in any brand name hotel. It was plain and ordinary bordering on budget in decor. There was nothing authentic about our room that would warrant spending $250/night. A little crown moulding & creative window treatments does not constitute a New England Inn! Our one meal in the Tavern was ok....nothing special food wise. However, our server, Sheila was fantastic. We had been seated for at least 10 minutes & no one approached our table. Sheila took us over & was fabulous!
This Inn is highly overrated, likely because there isn't anything to compare it to in area.

Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry your stay with us was a disappointment and would like you to know that we take your critiques very seriously. We want everyone to enjoy their stay and leave here wanting to return. When we receive bad reviews they force us to step back and look hard at what we might not be doing right. and what we could be doing better Hopefully, the end result is we improve our guest services and overall guest experience.
