“Don't overpay for a room at the chain hotels!”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

A great bargain! Clean, spacious well-kept rooms with refrigerators, coffee makers and refrigerators. Front desk staff (Kate?) was very friendly and helpful in resolving a problem I had with the cable TV service in my room.

Other reviewers expressed disappointment with the continental breakfast. Keep in mind that Casco Bay Inn charges much less per night than the major chains in the area - I'm sure they keep costs down by avoiding frills such as full hot breakfasts. There are several cafes and restaurants nearby that serve breakfast if you want more than they offer at the hotel.

All in all an excellent value, and I would gladly stay here when I am in the area again.

Enjoyed our stay at this quaint gem just 10 minutes from downtown Freeport. Great restaurants on way to outlets, room very clean and hotel staff friendly and helpful. Nice and quiet from bustle of downtown. Free breakfast, free parking and free wireless internet. Will definitely stay here again on next shopping trip to Freeport.

Would definitely come back to this hotel. Reasonably priced room with a continental breakfast. After reading some reviews I was expecting only toast and coffee but the Breakfast was actually pretty expansive. Just no hot food. There were hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast, muffins, fruit, cereal, coffee, Danishes, etc. the room was clean and contrary to what other reviews had reported, it did not smell at all. The AC worked as did the fridge.

I wanted to give this place a 5, but ...
This is a typical mid-range hotel. Two stories, interior hallways, non-smoking, continental breakfast, double queen rooms with flat screen, wifi, microwave and small frig. Since there were three of us, having an additional sink outside the bathroom was a real plus. Breakfast was the usual fare one comes to expect of a mid-range hotel - cereals, fruit, yogurt, bagels, sweet rolls, juice, coffee, etc. For three of us, it was priced significantly less than the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn.
The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, even printing a lengthy spreadsheet that I needed for my trip at no cost.
The room had very comfortable beds, nice linens and towels. The room was quiet, no noises from upstairs, adjacent rooms, or outside.
The bathroom and room appeared to be clean, until an item was dropped behind the reading chair in the room. When I moved the chair to retrieve the item, there were two empty bottles of an energy drink from prior guests. From other reviews this was probably just an oversight by the housekeeping staff, but for this reason I have adjusted my overall rating to a 4.

On our trip to Bar Harbor and Nova Scotia from NJ, we decided that our first leg would be a bit north of Portland. After our long drive, we arrived in Freeport during the late afternoon and checked into the Casco Bay Inn. We were greeted in a most friendly manner by the two young women who were manning the front desk. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and perfect for a night's stay. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and a pillow-top mattress pad. All linens were pretty new… not worn at all. We had a room with a king on the ground floor. Breakfast was basic… cereal, danish, muffins, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs and a few choices of fruit. But they did have Green Mountain coffee… a plus. The price was right and the accommodations were well suited to our needs. Easy off from the interstate and close to shopping and restaurants.

Room Tip: We liked having a room that faced the back parking lot rather than the road.

We recently stayed there for 3 nights and were very happy with the entire place. Th room was clean, updated and very comfortable. For us, it was very relaxing and a pleasant place to stay. The personnel were very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again. Cafe Azure was excellent in Freeport.

Room Tip: We had a corner room, so we had extra windows and the exterior door was right near where we parked o...

We used a coupon from a HotelCoupons.com booklet we picked up at a rest area so we got a great rate. Check in was breeze with a very friendly clerk. I forgot to ask for a room on the top floor so I was worried that noise would be an issue but my worries were unfounded. The room was spotless and included a Keurig coffee maker, microwave and mini-fridge. The temperature was great and the beds were very comfortable. They were made so tightly I think I could have bounced a quarter on them! The continental breakfast included the usual cereals, breads, muffins and rolls. It also included yogurts and fresh hard boiled eggs. Also included were bananas and cuties. This appeared to be a privately owned inn and it was well cared for. The decorating could use updating. It's not worn, it just needs updating.

Room Tip: Look for coupons in the HotelCoupons.com booklets at rest areas.
