Every time we're in Freeport it's a given we'll be eating here. The food and staff are consistently good, and the restaurant atmosphere is very quaint. Nothing beats dining on the patio seeing the streets lined with shoppers, it's great people watching while you eat. Sunday brunch is always a must.

We stopped here on our way from Camden on a recommendation from a fellow diner there. We were pleasantly surprised to find such an attractive place after struggling through the outlet traffic. My husband had seafood on linguini which was delicious. I had the appetizer seafood cakes which were the best I've ever tasted -- and we live in the mid-Atlantic where crabcakes are a major delicacy.

We decided to try something different this time through Freeport. Azure was highly rated so we thought we would give it a try. We had a table outside that was pleasant enough. The meal itself was decidedly forgettable. I wont say it was bad cause it was not, but was not really particularly satisfying or memorable. We kept wondering why this was so highly rated.

This was our first day on a 7 day Maine vacation, so of course, Freeport was our first stop. Had to hit LL Bean and some other outlets. The Azure Cafe commands prime frontage right on Main Street and has great outside dining. The server (Kelly) was fun and very efficient. We enjoyed a wonderfully fresh Lobster roll, though we thought it was a little pricey at $21, considering we got one the next day in Boothbay Harbor, equally good for $12 (and that doesn't begin to count the roadside stands selling them for under 10 bucks). But, hey, we're on vacation. My husband did say his clam chowder at Azure was out of this world tasty (best he's ever had...he said) and he did have a wonderful salad too. I'd go back...pricey or not, it's that good.

At the recommendation of our inn-keeper we had dinner here after the inevitable outlet tour. The food was indeed really good (pasta puttanesca, and halibut). The amble outside patio and comfortable chairs afforded us a good view of those passing by and all was a very pleasant relaxing experience. When I am back in Freeport I will certainly come back.
