“Handy "Hidden" Gem: Delightful!”
Reviewed 15 June 2009

"Hidden" gem because this hotel is located on a side street tucked away from Freeport's Main Street, but this place truly is a gem and well worth your seeking it out. As others have mentioned, this inn looks and feels brand new: both the inside and outside are attractive, well kept and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. We-grandparents and grandson-visited for two nights and we were truly delighted with our stay. Our room had two double beds (comfortable), a comfy chair and hassock, a desk chair and desk, good-sized TV, dresser, nightstand, large closet with plenty of wooden hangers, microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, and a good-sized bathroom.

There is also an indoor pool, a warm and inviting lobby with lots of seating, complimentary coffee, tea and cocoa served in the morning and cookies in the late afternoon. The breakfast buffet's offerings are extensive. In addition to the "usual" things (yogurt, cold cereals, fruits, muffins, breads, assorted beverages, Danish, etc.), one may also request items (eggs, pancakes) cooked to order. And, several hot items (bacon, sausage, oatmeal, hash browns, Belgian waffles, etc.) are available. Dee-lish! Although the servers were busy, they were helpful, pleasant and attentive.

The location is handy. Parking is free. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about this place. I hope to have the opportunity to return in the not-too-distant future (2.5 hour drive from home.)

Stayed over for a night while on route to a trip to Vegas. We had planned to do some shopping in Freeport outlet stores and had a hard time in finding a place until I found on the internet. The is a true gem hidden in Freeport. Staff and amenities were excellent. Exercise room, pool & jacuzzi were clean. There was a great sense of friendliness in this Inn. It"s a two minute walk to everything in Freeport. We had a wonderful brunch at the Grill in the morning. This was my first experience with Hilton Garden Inn and it will not be my last. As a matter of fact, we stayed the one at the Portland Airport to take an early flight to Vegas the next day and on our way back we stayed at the new one in Bangor, Maine. Great great service! Truely impressed!

Very much enjoyed our stay during Valentine's Day week-end. The hotel is within walking distance to downtown Freeport and LL Bean.

The room was clean and comfortable. They even have mattress adjustments for each side of the bed! Breakfast was included in the room cost.

Initially we were going to have dinner at a local restaurant. But, after seeing the Valentine's Day 4-course menu, we decided to eat at the hotel. It was quite good and reasonably priced ($30 pp)!

This trip may become an annual event!

We only stayed here one night on our way to Sugarloaf from Boston Airport. We arrived quite late but the staff were very friendly and helpful. There were cookies and fresh coffee on offer at reception. The kitchen had just closed but they kindly opened it up and we had room service. There was a nice bar too, although we were too tired to go.

The room and the bathroom was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable.Breakfast in the morning was very nice too with lots of choice and freshly cooked eggs if you wanted them.

Check out was at 12pm (on a Sunday) which I thought was very civilised, I can't stand having to get up and out at 10 or 11am especially on a weekend.

For a large hotel group, I thought this was a well run, cosy, friendly place. We would definately use this place again next time we are in the area.

We stayed just one night here in order to be able to do some Christmas shopping, and upgraded to a suite, which is only a few dollars more per night: it is well worth it. The room, the size of two standard rooms, was huge, with a large living room and kitchenette forming one half and a huge bathroom and bedroom the other. There is no cutlery or crockery with the kitchenette, but there is a fridge, microwave and coffee machine. As others have said, the location is fantastic, just a couple of blocks from LL Bean and the other shops. It was busy when we were there, and breakfast struggled to cope, with a queue forming, but the breakfast itself - a buffet - was excellent. The free coffee in reception is another nice touch - but be quick if you want a cookie - when they're gone, they're gone!

I stayed at this hotel with some friends to celebrate "Girlfriends Getaway Weekend". The hotel location is perfect for walking around downtown Freeport, the staff was so friendly, and the price could not be beat!!!

For a break from shopping I highly recommend Jaquelines Tea Room. This is only about .5 mile down the street and is so adorable, cozy and the owner is lovely. It's a great place to take a break and relax.

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton in Freeport for 5 days in Oct 2008. Initially, I was unable to book a room for the whole period over the net as there was no room available on the Saturday evening. However, when I called personally, there was in fact a suite available ( Room 107) for the whole period we had requested. When I asked for the best senior's rate for the room, I was offered the suite for $ 209/night ( US) as we were coming from Canada.
There is noting fancy about the Hilton in Freeport. There is no valet service and hence, you bring in your own luggage, etc. There is plenty of free parking at the hotel however. As well, the hotel is well located in Freeport as you are only about a block from the major shopping area including LL Beam.
The staff at the Hilton was OK but not particularly friendly or helpful. There is a nice lobby in the hotel that includes an eating area, etc. Our room, a one bedroom suite, was very large - a big living room and a large bedroom and bathroom. There were 2 TV's in the suite but the furniture was cheap, sparse and uncomfortable and the living room furniture in particular need an upgrade. As well, the carpet in the living room was filthy with large noticeable stains. Otherwise, the room was OK. It was also very quiet on the floor and in the suite. Breakfast was not provided but a paper was delivered to the door each day. The view from the room was terrible - if you opened the drapes, you would see train tracks about 15 - 20 feet from your window. This this not cause a noise problem however as we only heard one train, at about 11 AM on Sat, from our room.
Overall, we found the Hilton to be average at best...... the room was large but the furniture was cheap and tacky and the carpet was very dirty. The staff , with the exception of one or two, were not particularly friendly or helpful. We paid $ 209 per night for the suite which is reasonable considering that Freeport is a high end area of Maine and we had anticipated some tourist type prices there.
