Robin and Tori were amazing hosts and were as sweet and welcoming as could be. This is a wonderful place to stay for a romantic vacation. Tori and Robin provided us with plenty of suggestions of what to do while in Freeport and breakfast was always exquisite. Highly recommended.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review, Joanna. We enjoyed having you and Matthew with us and hear about your daily adventures over breakfast. You managed to see and do a lot during your five days yet also find time to relax - just what a vacation should be!

Thank you again. We look forward to seeing the two of you back with us again.

We just returned from our visit. We could not have been more pleased. This was our first trip to Freeport in 20 years and Robin and Tori made it feel like a visit to old friends. They are warm and welcoming and really make it their business to make sure you have a wonderful trip. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfasts were amazing (there was no need for lunch). We are already planning our next visit.

Thank you, Annie! We are so glad you and Brian enjoyed your time here. We really enjoyed your company and had a great time talking with you two on the deck during breakfast. It is great fun to see our guests relax and enjoy their vacation. We look forward to greeting our new friends back to the inn. Until then, be well.

My BF and I stayed at James Place for a night in June 2014 and we really enjoyed it. Our room was very nice and the hosts (Robin and Tori) were so genuine and friendly. They seem to really enjoy being Innkeepers, which is not an easy task. The breakfast was delicious and the portions very generous-we were full for the day afterwards. Robin and Tori shared some stories about their move away from Corporate America and their decision to purchase a B and B, and were happy to chat with us for as long as we wanted. It is on a quiet street but within walking distance to downtown Freeport. We would definitely like to go back again in the future and highly recommend this Inn.

My wife and I have only just returned from our trip to the Inn. We first visited a couple of years ago for only a single night as we were travelling to many places on the East coast but we were so bowled over by how lovely the owners were to us and what a lovely house it is that we decided it would be the perfect setting in which to get married. Tori and Robin helped us so much with all the arrangements and it was so nice to see them again. The Inn was just as we remembered....picture perfect! The breakfasts are something to behold with freshly baked Muffins and Quiches and lots more besides.
The best place we have stayed anywhere!!

Room Tip: Pine Room has it's own private deck and a wonderful working fireplace

Having stayed at the Inn for 1 night a couple of years ago, we decided we would like to get married in there. Being from the UK, Tori and Robin made all the arrangements for us to make our perfect wedding possible. The Inn is an amazing place to stay, and Tori and Robin are the most fantastic, friendly people we have met. They made us feel like part of the family and went out of their way to make our holiday as wonderful and relaxed as possible. We are definitely planning on going back as soon as possible.

We are so thrilled that you chose us your wedding destination and that you felt so comfortable here. We were thrilled to be a part of it! You were such a beautiful bride and we loved watching the two of you get married. It was the only time you were serious all week. You are an amazing couple and so fun to be with and to watch together. May you enjoy many happy years together. And may we be fortunate enough to be a part of them.

I have been staying at the James Place Inn at least once a year for the past five years. It is the best place to stay in the area. Located just a block from the main shopping area of Freeport, Inn is on a quiet side street. As such, you can easily walk to all the shops and restaurants in down town Freeport, but still get a great night's sleep. It has easy access to I-295 and is only about 20 minutes from downtown Portland. I also frequently head north from here to the wonderful beaches at Popham and Reid State parks. These are about 45 min away (20 min to Bath, where there is a great maritime museum and an active naval shipyard where you can see US navy destroyers being built, then about 25 minutes down each of the peninsulas).
The house is beautiful, with Adirondack chairs, a hammock and a nice deck for just relaxing outside and reading a book. Rooms are tastefully decorated, have great beds, and many have whirlpool style tubs. My favorite rooms are the Rose room (if traveling alone) and the Green room (if traveling with someone special). I frequently stay here after long bike rides (such as this past weekend's Trek Across Maine) and the Rose room downright has the best soaking tub I have ever been in. The green room's bright airy feel and view of the yard are its highlights. Note the Wisteria room is just off the kitchen, though it has a lot of sound insulation, if you plan on sleeping in late, other rooms might be a better choice as you may hear some noise as breakfast is prepared.
Speaking of breakfast the food is amazing. For starters every day there is yogurt, homemade granola, and cut fruit. In addition, there is a new baked item every day. My personal favorite are the raspberry scones. Then there is a selection of hot foods every day. This usually includes a frittata or two, pancakes or waffles, quiche, and some kind of breakfast meat. Occasionally, you will also be treated to Robyn's homemade baked beans. When you return from your day out fresh baked cookies and tea will be waiting for you in the sun room. You will not be hungry.
But the best part of the James Place Inn are the family who run it. Robyn, Tori and their daughter Elyse, are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They are very personable and really try to make sure everyone of their guests has the best experience possible. They are very knowledgeable on things to do in the area. I lived in Yarmouth (one town south) for years and they have even introduced me, a former local, to many great spots I would have never known about without their input. I always look forward to my trips north and am already thinking of my next trip to the James Place Inn.

WoW1 Thank you so much for all of the wonderful things you said about us and the James Place Inn. We always look forward to having you here and catching up on what is going on. We love the stories about the Trek Across Maine and are always impressed by your ability to not only participate but finish! We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we enjoy having you here. Keep training and perhaps Robin will be joining you on the ride one year.

Very welcoming owners, Felt right at home. Would definitely stay there again. Great location in Freeport. One block from everything you would ever need. Tory and Robyn are a wonderful couple. I believe they have repeat business.

Room Tip: Our bed was a queen size. Would ask for a room with a bigger bed if that is what you are used to.
