The Admiral Peary Inn Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #3 of 5 Fryeburg B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 11 January 2013

Being from the Bay Area (live in Singapore now) I've staying in many B&B's; Napa, Sonoma, San Francisco, London, Sydney, etc. and have an eye for quality and very picky about food and comfort. In a relatively short time, Donna has assembled a masterpiece at the Admiral Peary Inn. She has excellent taste in room decor and all amenities. As a dog lover, the greeting from Maya wagging her tail upon arrival and her trotting upstairs in the morning for my "wake up call" was as if I was at home. Breakfast was whenever I got up and tasty as ever with sausage and waffles topped with her homemade warmed blueberry preserves. And this was after my starter of fresh strawberries with yogart and granola. Quantity and quality was just right. The shower had good pressure and water well heated even upstairs which is not always easy in an older property. Rooms were emaculate and bed was super cozy. The historic house is a perfect fit for Donna and who puts her worldly impression and good taste on different themed rooms. I stayed in the Tuscany room and will try a different one next time. Donna has succeeded in making this Inn feel like home. Any weary traveler can't help but be put in a relaxed mode after spending time with her in this beautiful home. Will be through again in Spring and stay at there, for sure.

I did not book this b n b since this was my husbands plan / surprise.. This Inn has all the charm you could want and expect from a histrorical Inn. We where greeted by Donna P and her love bug of a dog Myra.~ Donna had all the amenities needed .. and had our tickets for our mystery murder dinner / train ride show.. it was fabolous and Donna was if not more excited about us going~ We sat outside on one of the decks in the afternoon sun , and than we were shown to our room .. THe room was so quaint with the english charm (we stayed in the english garden) room.
The bed was oh so comfortable... we loved the decor and feel of the Inn, we only stayed one evening however we would love to come back... did i mention the waffles!! delicious .. Donna makes your breakfast when you want it:) just not at 5 am:)
Everything was so nice it was quiet , clean. ANd also lovely to meet the pets .. myra, honey, and shasha .. (spelling) two cats and a dog so if your not an animal friend/ this may not be the place for you .. (dogs are welcome)
we look forward to a future visit.. check out this beautiful location .. in the amazing white mountains with out the insane crowd.. s and noise.. this is off the beaten path but not too far
tremondous value for the $ .

This a beautiful, comfortable, delightful, historic inn a tad off the beaten tourist path in a good way -- not far, but not a touristy town at all in a gorgeous area -- the "back-door entry" to Maine. Owner Donna and her guests, at least when we were there, made it feel like a party for long time friends. We only spent one night to go to the Fryeburg Fair, and could have spent lots more time in the area. The Fair itself is an autumn do-not-miss -- an authentic, old fashioned New England Country Fair with lots of delicious fryed food that is really bad for your health. (Pun intended). The leaves were peaking in the area. Donna has really comfortable beds, plenty of hot water, good temperature control, spotlessly clean and newly refurbished rooms and the best sheets we have ever slept on anywhere. Breakfast was just fantastic, plentiful and delicious. Donna ASKS what time you want to eat instead of the customary - breakfast is between xy and z time. That is the kind of hostess she is. Doggie Maya was a sweetie, and the house is pet friendly. We stayed at the top of the Inn in the English Garden Room which was really special. If I lived in the northeast, I would go back just to hang out, relax and have a good time. If there wer a rating of more than 5 stars, Donna's Inn would have it. Donna, we wish you the best success with your Inn !!

Room Tip: I would try different rooms each time; the house is on a quiet side street. Each room is apparently...

I was looking for a B&B in Fryeburg, Maine for a Saturday night stay. I searched Tripadvisor and decided to try the Admiral Peary Inn after also visiting the Inn's website. I arrived in the afternoon and was warmly welcomed by Donna and her dog Maya (dog friendly inn!). She graciously took me on the tour of the whole Inn and shared some of its history with me. Each room is uniquely designed to a country or city that she has visited or plans to visit. I stayed in the spacious Paris room and loved it! The decor and furnishings were just right. The bed and extra soft pillows were wonderful! The common areas are also nicely decorated with time period furnishings. I found the library a great place to read and found one of her two cats snuggling up to me! Breakfast in the morning was cooked to what I had requested and was just right!
The Inn is on a side street so it is fairly quiet. There is a HUGE back yard and lots of trees that surround the back deck. There is a delightful screened in porch in the back as well.
All in all a great stay, a gracious hostess, and lovely pets. Can't wait to return with my pup and try the Japan room!!!!

Room Tip: Japan room has a jaccuzi tub! Paris room faces front street.

Personally my husband & I have never stayed in a B&B however the experiance at The Admiral Peary Inn was great. We were treated as guests which included receiving a wonderful breakfast. Our rooms were fulffed and buffed daily, even though I assisted with the fulffing & buffing. Donna had her Open House while we were there and many of the local folks came by to visit & tour this beautiful historic B&B. The comments were very positive. Please do keep in mind this is Donna's first experience with a B&B. Donna has worked in B&B's and has taken a number of classes and has been coached by a number of B&B owners with tips on how to make this "dream" a successful busines. I truly believe this B&B will become a great successful business for Donna.

Room Tip: All rooms a traveler chooses are great - the 3rd floor room is the brighest room. If you have coupl...
