“Weekend Family Wedding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

We booked this trip one year ago after hearing my best friend's daughter was to be married ten minutes away at the Barn at Hardy Farm. We just loved staying at the Old Saco Inn! From the minute we arrived we were welcomed and treated like royalty! Pete and Sandy have created such a peaceful getaway. Our room was perfect; comfortable, quiet and well appointed and the breakfast was delicious each morning. My husband and son enjoyed getting out on the river to explore and I enjoyed relaxing in the chairs set up by the river. I can imagine this place is just beautiful in the fall and wintertime too!

We spent 3 nights hosted by Sandy and Peter, the wonderful innkeepers. As you drive down the 1/2 mile driveway, you are immediately envelopped by the calm beauty of the river and the forest .We were in the Sweden suite,it was roomy ,comfortable and impeccably clean .We enjoyed our little balcony complete with table and parasol. The breakfasts ,prepared by our hostess Sandy were excellent .We could sit by the lazy river and enjoying the peace and quiet. The guesthouse where we stayed (there are 2) is where they host a pub night on Fridays and Saturdays ,good food and good beer and other drinks of your choice .Not to worry ,the evening ends at around 10:30pm ,so the quiet soon returns .We can hardly wait to return .Oh and by the way the shopping mecca of north Conway is 25 minutes away as is Ebeneezer's a restaurant with an incredible beer list and good food.Just go with an attitude of patience as you sip great beer . Cheers to Sandy and Peter. G,Riley

Room Tip: the rooms in the main lodge seem larger.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Old Saco Inn...we loved it!!! Set alongside a river on a 65-acre property, it was the perfect location to spend a few romantic days. This inn is very clean. Our room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We had our own private terrace adjoining our room where we enjoyed reading and just hanging out. My husband's comment was that it was so quiet, he could hear the birds' wings flapping....now that is quiet! The breakfast was different each morning and absolutely delicious. Sandi and Pete were wonderful hosts and we certainly hope to return in the near future. We highly recommend this inn.

Room Tip: Only a few rooms have a terrace. If this is something you would like, simply ask about it.

Our 6th year and it just gets better !! Sandi & Pete have continued to improve the rooms, the food, the bar and the welcoming. It's truly the best B & B we've visited . . . And we've been to a lot all over the world. Well worth the trip from hectic NYC. Come and relax and enjoy !!

Picked this place in view of the amazing number of "5" ratings. Turned out the reviews were right on. Everything was great. Quiet and peaceful lodge like setting away from road noise. Breakfast on the porch, self service bar during the week, excellent common areas and a very comfortable room with outside deck and huge bathroom. Parking at the door. Dinner is served on Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately we stayed during week. If we ever are back in the Fryeburg area we will certainly stay there again. Only drawback is that the Inn is located 7 or 8 miles from Fryeburg center. Long drive for dinner during week.

Also should mention the Inn is right on the Old Saco River. They have kayaks and canoes for use right off the porch door. Very handy if you canoe or like to kayak.

Room Tip: The two first floor suites have an entrance from the Inn and direct from the outside. You are able...

We had a lovely stay here and especially appreciated the cleanliness and charm of the inn, as well as the friendly, thoughtful and warm hospitality of the innkeepers. I enjoyed walking on the trails on the grounds of the inn.

Breakfasts were delicious and relaxing in the attractive dining area. (I love the window seats!) The food was more elaborate than I usually eat for breakfast, but one could also have eggs simply cooked to order. We did not have dinner there but suspect that they are very good. The pub is clearly in demand.

The only improvements I could suggest would be a softer mattress and a full-length mirror in the room.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the spacious rooms in the main building that also had outdoor access. It was qui...
