This is what a B & B should look like - tasteful décor and quaint touches - comfy bed, well appointed bathroom. Everything to make you feel pampered. The owners take care of your every need, and spoil you with the best breakfasts you only dreamed of !

Room Tip: A room with an outside entrance was helpful.

We stayed at the PineCrest Inn during a recent visit to Portland, Maine. Inn keepers Amy and Matt made our stay a wonderful experience. Breakfast was delicious, room was clean and cosy, and suggestion on sites to visit were excellent.

Hubby and I stayed in the Amherst for two nights last weekend. We checked in very smoothly with Amy after 4:00 pm on Friday afternoon before we headed out for the night. Room was very clean and quite nice. Bathroom was on the large side with a coffee maker on a side table near the window. Decorations were nice...felt like I was staying in the home of a friend. Nice cozy sheets too. Came back later that evening, let ourselves in and had a quiet night. The town is quiet in the evening with the road noise only picking up in the morning - so we were not bothered by that even though the room was on the front of the house. Breakfast was a decadent take on French toast with a croissant. Quite yummy in a very pleasant dining room. They have a deck area kind of gazebo in the yard where we had a sandwich Saturday afternoon which was nice. Came home late on Saturday evening to another night of solid sleep, but had to skip breakfast. Heard that is was scrambled eggs, but not like you have ever had them before - apparently quite gourmet. We checked out smoothly, handed in our keys and were off. Seems like Amy and Matt paid a lot of attention to detail when they set up this B&B and it shows. Even dark chocolate on the pillow at night. Will stay here again if we are up in the area.

We, like a lot of others, saw this B & B featured on Chronicle. So I made a two night reservation over Memorial day weekend. We weren't disappointed. We had the room with a separate entrance on the first floor which made coming and going quite easy. We loved the room and even asked what the colors were, which Amy happily provided. We also ate diner in their small restaurant. The food was superb. Since it was Memorial Day weekend there was only one other couple eating which made it quite cozy, even had live music. I would recommend this place to anyone. Its close to Portland and to the Sebago Lake area.

I saw the Pine Crest Inn on Chronicle months earlier. It is roughly a 150 year old colonial with large rooms cut up into tiny suites. Took my wife for an over night excursion.
They showed gourmet dinners on the TV show. Sorry, not cooking dinners tonight, very disappointing.

The grounds were okay, but nothing special and not less than what some private home grounds are like. The room was clean with nice furnishings. (small bedroom with a cramped sitting room and small, but nice bath room) The passage way to the bath was much too narrow and a larger person would have to walk sideways to make it through. TV wall mounted in odd position from the settee.

A very nice little breakfast. No options though, everyone got the same plated breakfast.

At $160 I felt it was over priced. Nice hostess. No, I would not return, just not worth the cost in my opinion.

We often stay in B&B's and this one tops our list! As part of our re-location to Maine, we stayed here and were impressed by how friendly, attentive, and professional Amy and Matt are! The place is immaculate! Stayed in the Covington - third floor - very cozy and private, and as their website states - very much worth the extra set of stairs to get there! We did get a quick peek into a couple of second floor rooms and each looks as fabulous as the next. We felt as though we were the only guests at the inn, even though the restaurant was full each morning with folks enjoying the wonderful, gourmet breakfasts! Each day we were busy in the area, from Brunswick/Freeport area to Kennebunkport and Gorham is right in the center so at the end of each very long day, we came "home" to Ghirardelli chocolates on our pillows! Will definitely return!

Room Tip: Each room is unique - for solitude, take the third floor rooms!

The PineCrest was great. I can't state emphatically enough how tasty breakfast was!! They were also mindful of one pescatarian in our party. One tip though: be mindful of their reservation practices. They don't participate with OpenTable even though they're listed on the site. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful. I also appreciated that this B&B is extremely clean without having that overly sterile vibe you get in hotels.

Thanks, Matt and Amy!
