Pros: Excellent rates, lovely home with well-decorated rooms (not in the usual Victorian style), very comfortable beds, tasty breakfast with variety, cool bar on-site with wonderful wine selection, and an awesome relaxing lobstah dinner right down the hall from our room. Dinner was a total highlight of our Maine experience.
Cons: The husband, Matt, seemed preoccupied and was neither warm or friendly. His wife, their Chef, and kids were very welcoming, fun, and informative. Proximity to Portland is a little ways away.

Overall: Would certainly stay again.

Arrived during a Sunday afternoon music session on the lawn which was very hip. Our room – The Covington – was very nicely decorated, spacious, big bed and handy fridge and microwave (especially useful with a small child). Breakfast was excellent – fresh fruit, fresh French toast. The next day we have chunky tasty ham. Matt & Amy were always very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Matt gave us great touristy info and Amy helped with things to make our stay more comfortable for our son. Plenty of outdoor space – lawn to play on and a patio where we sat in the evening with a beer. Location was fine. Not a lot in Gorham but easy drive to all the hotspots. If I was to be critical the outside of the building could do with a freshen up but the inside was very clean and quaint. Overall the warmth of the welcome & their personal touches made us feel relaxed and comfortable. I would recommend friends and family to stay here.

This is the place to stay if you want to be in the Portland-Westbrook-Gorham area! Our family thinks this is the best bed and breakfast we have stayed at – and that says a lot as we have been in B&Bs that three times as expensive as the PineCrest Bed and Breakfast Inn. You could not ask for better hosts than Amy and Matt. We felt like family during our eight day stay in Maine. Matt went the extra mile for us, trying to help us with reservations, giving us directions or attempting to find the keys my husband misplaced. Amy was always smiling, and making sure our stay was great.
The inn is a colonial home that is a mere 15 minutes from downtown Portland. Getting around anywhere in this part of Maine is no problem. It certainly isn’t like I-495 in Massachusetts on a Friday evening! Maine drivers are very courteous thus walking around Gorham was our way to get around town. Just a five minute walk from the inn is great coffee shop which sells some of the best coffee we have had. A couple minutes further down the road is an excellent brewpub.
The house is tastefully decorated, and has many period pieces. They have a covered porch that has been converted in to a restaurant for weekend dining. It was a great place to have a meal with the cool Maine summers. In the middle of the house is a small bar with four beers on tap. They had a local beer that was great. At the far end of their house is where breakfast is served. We assume that is where dinners are served during the cold months. Every breakfast was delicious. Matt did a great job of having a different breakfast every morning. Each meal was delicious. They were so good that our 17 year old son made an effort to be up by 8:30 every morning! We appreciate Matt and Amy’s attention to our dietary restrictions. Not once did we have any pork on our plates (something that did not happen at a $450 B&B that we stayed at in our home state).
Outside the house is a wonderful terrace where we spent some evenings sipping on wine and eating food we had brought back to the inn. The terrace is beautifully landscaped and so serene. On Sundays in the summer, the inn sponsors a two hour concert on their lawn. For a donation, one can listen to excellent music from local musicians, and eat food off the grill. Matt is so talented that his homemade potato chips were a favorite in our family. What a way to end the weekend!
Do not let the inn’s low prices fool you! The entire experience at the PineCrest Bed and Breakfast Inn is worth way more than Amy and Matt charge. Their warmth and attention to detail will have us back in Gorham before you can say, “Jumping Jack Flash”.

We were very happy with our stay at the PineCrest. It is a lovely old building, but everything you would want to be modern, was. Amy and Matt could not have been nicer or more helpful as we explored the area. Breakfast was excellent, and we were quite pleasantly surprised by the in-house gourmet dinner we availed ourselves of on the first night. The room (Quincy) was quite comfortable, and the entire place was immaculately clean. It seems like it's out of the way, but it was easy making our way to Portland and 95/295. We'd definitely stay here again...Jim and Kathy Moragne

Hosts, room, price and food were fantastic.
There may be B&B's out there as good, but can not imagine any better for the money.

As my husband and I are building a new home in Maine, I needed to work with one of our contractors in Gorham. I selected the PineCrest due to location but would recommend this lovely inn for anyone wanting to enjoy a getaway to Portland and the surrounding area.

Upon being shown to my room, I immediately noticed the artful placement of the woven throw on the bed. This was the work of someone (Amy) with a refined sense of style which shows up in many of the inns rooms. Plus, the assortment of amenities in my room was delightful. I should have made better use of them. Next time!

What truly set this inn apart for me was how readily Matt and Amy accommodated my dietary needs. Since I prefer to follow a raw food vegan diet, they offered me a fresh salad and a grilled multigrain bagel for my breakfast. That was great. But on Friday night, Mo (Maureen) , the gourmet chef who comes to prepare dinner for guests and a dedicated clientele, researched the raw food diet and presented me with a delightful three course dinner. Now that's service!!! Plus, Matt stocks the small bar at the inn with an interesting wine selection and can speak at length on the subject.

I have since returned with my husband and enjoyed another pleasant stay. I know that even after our home is built we will enjoy dining at the inn and visiting with our new friends.

I was in Gorham to visit USM and also just to hang out and poke around the area. PineCrest turned out to be the perfect base of operations. The big old house has a great vibe and the service included all kinds of nice touches -- chocolates on the pillows, a log in the fireplace, bathrobes and toothpaste in the bathroom, a piano, a guitar, paperbacks and DVDs, and extra-delicious breakfasts. Matt & Amy (and their kids) are great hosts. I plan to pass through again, and would recommend the PineCrest 100% wholeheartedly.
