We first visited the Blair Hill Inn in June 2007 (please see earlier review), and were captivated by Ruth and Dan McLaughlin's hospitality and vision back then. We returned five years later, and were captivated all over again. Ruth and Dan have continued to provide a five-star experience on the edge of beautiful Moosehead Lake in Maine, from the rooms to the dining (Tuesday night dinner for guests only was great) to the warmth of the people with whom they work. Property upgrades flourish, from inside to out, which make this jewel of an inn sparkle even more.

Room Tip: Room 1 presides, with a great overlook of the lake below.

Before coming here, I was intrigued that the reviews for this hotel were all perfect fives. Now having stayed here, I agree completely. Owners Dan and Ruth are the ultimate gracious hosts, and their hotel is furnished in superb taste and with exquisite attention to detail. The views all around and to the lake below are absolutely stunning! And to top it all, Dan is a superb cook. We had a delicious breakfast with the most scrumptious eggs we have ever eaten! Thank you Ruth and Dan for a wonderful stay!

This hotel is perfection. It is such a stunning setting, with perfect sunset views from a gorgeous veranda. Every room, and we stayed in 3, is stunning. Down to the sheets and the bathroom accessories, everything is the ultimate in luxury. The house has a warm friendly feeling, sometimes small hotels can feel intimidating, but Blair Inn gets the balance just right. Present if you need anything, yet very relaxed and leaves you to explore and chill out if you prefer. The gardens are stunning and expansive. The food and drinks are all of the highest quality. The little town is only 2 miles away, and the lake offers endless activities or opportunities to relax and do very little. If a very small part of you thinks: maybe, just maybe, we should stay here, then DO. Book it today. You will be so delighted you did.

Spent one night to enjoy a bit of luxury while visiting relatives in various parts of the state. Ruth greeted us warmly and showed us around the inn. We enjoyed cocktails crafted by Cordelia on the front porch and watch the sun set over one of the most beautiful views in Maine. Everything was spotless and comfortable. The room was very spacious and as shown in the web site photos. Breakfast was wonderful and just this side of decadent! Will keep this inn on the "must return" list. Dinner is served at the inn Tuesday thru Saturday -try to book a room then. I stay in hotels of all kinds over 100 nights a year and wish everyone of them could be like this inn!

We spent 5 nights in early July at the Inn and can't wait to return. We can't say enough about the Moosehead Lake area and this Inn in particular. Ruth and Dan are wonderful hosts who are always available when needed but never overbearing. The Inn is immaculate, comfortable and offers unbelievable views of Moosehead Lake and the mountains beyond. Breakfasts were creative, filling and delicious. When we mentioned that my husband didn't like certain foods they were more than happy to accomodate. We enjoyed Sunday Night pizza night at the Inn and also had an outstanding 5 course dinner on Saturday night. We spent many days hiking and exploring the area and Ruth happily provided us with water bottles and snacks. The only thing we'd change about the Inn is the distance from our house - we'd return multiple times throughout the year if it was closer!

Do not bypass this property! Blair Hill Inn was without a doubt the absolute highlight of our 18 day trip through Maine! We arrived early in the day, but Ruth greeted us like long lost cousins, showed us our room and the public part of the house and sent us out for a hike with great directions and a cool beverage. Granted this property costs more for one night than any 3 nights of other accommodations combined, but it was definitely worth the splurge! We were in room #2 with windows on two sides and a shower worthy of Architectural Digest mention. Much has been said of the location, so I will only concur. Much has been said about the cuisine – to which I will also concur. Much has also been said about the hospitality – to which I will wholeheartedly enthusiastically concur. To Cordelia, Milo, Maxie, Belle, Dan and especially Ruth, we send out the fondest thanks, the warmest of memories, and our highest possible kudos for a stay that will be the mark by which we measure all future stays anywhere the road takes us. Woe is in store for the next few places we visit – this from someone who spends an average of 130+/- nights a year in “hotels” of one type or another.

Room Tip: Saw 5 of the rooms. All looked nice. #1 might be the biggest. #2 suited us just fine with good vi...

We stayed here for a wedding (and we did not pay for it either!). What a beautiful home and the view is fantastic overlooking Moosehead Lake. The innkeepers really know how to greet and welcome people with hospitality and style. The suite was comfortable and plush. The breakfasts were delicious. Everything was as you would expect in such an expensive and distinguished inn.

Room Tip: Any room is great at the Blair Hill Inn!
