The Blair Hill Inn is one of the absolute best places we've ever stayed. All the previous reviews (including one from us several years ago) sum up this incredible experience. The Blair Hill experience is one of complete relaxation, in one of the most beautiful settings in the world. Dan and Ruth are extraordinary inn-keepers, providing the highest level of service and care, but in a very relaxed and comfortable approach. We couldn't ask for anything more - other than to be able to visit more often!

Our first trip to Moosehead, and we picked the perfect inn. Dan and Ruth, owners and great hosts, couldn't have been warmer or friendlier. The Inn is in beautiful condition, decorated very tastefully ( not over done), and all seems very personal. Spacious rooms, all you could ask for.
The views of the lake are breath-taking and spectacular. High up on the hil, couldn't be better.
Food is superb. Make sure to have a drink or two with Dan at the bar, and enjoy a gourmet dinner; their chef makes it very special.
Oh, and Dan makes a mean (gourmet) breakfast each morning.

You will spend some $$ here, but it's worth every cent, and you will leave with great memories.

We recently celebrated our 40th anniversary touring the entire state of Maine. We wanted the days around our actual anniversary to be particularly special--and were they ever! We spent two nights at Blair Hill Inn and enjoyed every minute of it! Every detail of this magnificent Inn is exquisite. Ruth and Dan were a true blessing and the entire experience exceeded our expectations in every way. The views of Moosehead Lake are simple breathtaking! I could have spent the entire time on the comfortable porch enjoying the swing or the rocking chairs. We stayed in room # six on the top floor and it was perfect in every way. There was even a view of the lake from the bath! We enjoyed all of our trip, but Blair Hill Inn stands out as the highlight.

A friend of ours booked the Inn during the seaplane fly-in recently so I will admit, I never had a reason to read any reviews until I wanted to write one. Every great review you read is spot on so what more can I say. The place is beautiful, the view is incredible and the hosts obviously enjoy what they do.

We usually call or email in advance to inform the hosts of an Inn or B&B of an egg allergy and forgot this time. We mentioned it during the tour and said not to worry about it since we knew there would be plenty to eat for breakfast without eggs (experience). Not only was the breakfast plate egg free and filling, since we were enjoying dinner there as well (see separate 5 star review under restaurants) they actually made non-egg versions of some of the items already planned on their menu.

You have read this before but I will say it again, our room was excellent, drinks in the beautifully designed bar area prior to dinner was enjoyable and coffee in the early morning, overlooking the lake was relaxing. So yes, I would come again.

The first time you set eyes on this stately home will stay etched in your mind forever, we were in awe as we drove toward it up the hill. We were met by Ruth who explained her history with the mansion and then gave us a tour which led to our beautiful suite. I have to say I have never seen such a beautiful room and bathroom, so elegantly refurbished to reflect the period of the house but still having beautiful modern amenities. Our view of Moosehead Lake made the position even more perfect, our room was huge and so was the elegantly appointed bathroom. Ruth arranged for us to join a personal Moose Safari with Northwood's Outfitters which was a complete success - we saw 3 Moose in the wild! A massive highlight for a couple of Australians, there is nothing that compares to seeing a creature in its natural habitat, especially one as majestic as the Moose.
Breakfast was fantastic, plentiful, delicious, perfectly cooked and presented (Dan is the chef) The breakfast room has beautiful views of the garden and there is a lovely veranda to take in views of the lake.
Everything about Blair Hill is amazing, everyone should be lucky enough to visit this timeless, wonderful place, made even more enjoyable because of our delightful host Ruth (we didn't meet Dan, he was too busy cooking!)
Thanks Ruth, we have a lifetime memory and you are part of it!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a Bay window facing the lake! Divine.
