“Owners take personal pride…”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

We have camped here at least a half dozen times. We love the tent sites on the lake side. I can't wait to go back. The lake sunsets are incredible. The overall vibe is completely relaxed.

The owners take personal pride in maintenance. The bath house facilities are a little worn, but spotless. This is VERY important to our family.

Shady campsites are huge, clean and well groomed. They run a generator in the morning and evenings, so you can charge up electronics, make coffee, etc.

There is a wonderful pebble beach a short walk away. Halfway down the drive from the main road is a regular moose watching spot. We average close to one moose sighting per day at that spot, just going in or out. If the lake is smooth, rent a motorboat and head over to Mt Kineo.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Casey's to friends.

Room Tip: We like the tent sites on the lake side.

Casey's is a very special place, but not for anyone who does not appreciate nature in spades and is respectful of the land, trees, water etc. It is the best location on Moosehead Lake located approximately 19 miles from Greenville- 12+ miles on asphalt and the rest on good dirt roads. Superb marina for small boats- well protected from the big lake. Casey and Sarah are characters in the best sense of the word. They are enormously protective of their special location, committed to conservation and always respectful of the woods and its residents. If you wish to be uncaring campers, you should not come here. Much of their business is repeat customers like us. With campsites on the lake and on Spencer Bay, it is a wonderful environment. September is very special. Less crowded, fewer children, beautiful weather with few bugs, cooler weather, and astounding views all around. There are many small ponds in the surrounding area- great for kayaking and fishing. Electricity is available for 3-4 hours in the morning and night. Housekeeping cabins (you keep it clean) are comfortable with kitchenettes, refrigerators, modest bathrooms with hot showers, and plenty of room. Campfires are permitted, but any wood to be burned must come only from Maine- state law. Casey sells firewood. Beanhole beans are available Saturday nights in July and August. No other cooked food is available- you bring and cook your own. Good availability in Greenville. Loud parties are not allowed. Very good fishing- license is required. Casey does rent boats to selective customers. Good moose-watching in the area. The place appeals to many people traveling incognito- including CEO's, politicians, and just plain folks. Good facilities for Winnebago's away from the cabins and many campsites. Casey and Sarah have a well stocked camp store for fishing, some clothing and some stuff that they may have caught or trapped the previous winter. Sarah's hats are fabulous. Worth a stay for those who love the outdoors.

My wife and I had a great time at this camp. If you want a water front spot and real wilderness this is it. If you want to be noisy stay away! We will be back. The showers were spotless and smelled great. All the reviews here say the owner is rude but I think that is not fair. You are told up front that excessive noise is not ok. We got in at 9:00pm and my truck is very loud. I found the owners house and shut my truck off. Checked in and drove to the sight. No problems just set up the tent and went to bed. In the morning we used quiet voices till 7:00am. Just use common sense.

Casey's campground gives my family unplugged time - No laptops (work stays home!), no TV. We docked our boat at the marina, fished and went for boat rides. Our site was on the point - beautiful views of both sunrise and sunset. Every night found us around the camp fire, talking and laughing. Ducks and ducklings made their rounds - waiting for us to feed them. We saw moose, deer, bald eagles, loons and salmon :) Casey's has firewood, camp store, ice, and a very clean shower house. This vacation spot is about relaxing and reconnecting. It takes us 15 hours to drive to Casey's Spencer Bay and we'll do it again next year. Thank you Casey and Sarah. You two and Billy always make us feel at home. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Having been at Caseys the same time as several of these negative ratings, I'm here to tell you the place is a hidden gem. Yes it's rustic and not for everyone. In other words its not a "resort" campground and doesn't pretend to be. If you want to experience pure Maine beauty and all the wildlife this is your kind of place. I can live a week without blow drying my hair. I'm happy to have a hot shower available and for four quarters its a steal considering this place is six and a half miles down a dirt road. The shower house and toilets are very neat and clean. Casey was constantly working everyday that I was there, cutting firewood , picking up trash bags replacing planks on the dock. The guy never stopped. My party of six on two sites was up past quiet time sipping cocktails and sometimes feeling we needed to quiet ourselves down but were never asked to. The little store was filled with so much I was amazed. Plenty of clothes available if you find yourself a little chillier than you thought you might be. Very reasonable prices. Stunning views. Now that I found Caseys I'll be back every summer.

Room Tip: Tent sites have the better views than camper sites

My wife and I enjoyed a quiet couple of nights along Spencer Bay. We camped next to the boat launch, which offered stunning views, and had a lot of activity during the day. At night, it was as quiet as could be. It was fun watching the comings and goings of the boaters and kayakers. Sarah and the staff were very helpful. It's a quiet getaway, fairly rustic, and focused on enjoying the sounds of nature.

Our family and five other couples went on our annual group camping trip to this site. The combined accommodations cost over $500.00. We are a very respectful group of travelers ranging in age from 24-50. Our first night there, we were sitting around the fire talking when the owner barged right in telling us to be quiet. Someone in the group giggled, and he said, "You're not going to think it's funny if I have to come back!" I talked to him the next morning and told him that there was no need of treating us like that. We are hard working people who spent a lot of money to be there. There were no campers except our party anywhere near us except another group that we had asked about noise already. He grumbled and walked off. The second day our two 11 year-olds came back because he had yelled at them about riding their bikes in vacant campsites that they needed to stay on the road. The place is plastered with "NO" signs, no blow dryers, no throwing rocks near the water, no dish washing, no HAVING A GOOD TIME apparently. One of our fellow campers was scared when he made a dash into her campsite with a shovel and starting digging out the fire pit. He didn't say who he was and started crabbing her out saying it wasn't an incinerator and that she should know better. More...
