The inn comes up as best in the area and was recommended by a friend. So we gave it a try for our anniversary while on vacation with our daughter and son in law. We were a bit sticker shocked when we opened the menu but it was a special occasion, we expected greatness. Sorry to say it was good but not that good. Portions were large and compensated somewhat for the capable but unimaginative work in the kitchen. All good but just not the "lick your plate" level I expected for the money. Entrees with salad all around $35.00 which they don't advertise. As a matter a fact the salad was the only exceptional thing, extremely fresh mixed greens with grapes and a nice dressing, scarfed that up.

This restaurant was very close to our rental so we went twice. The food was very well prepared both times, my wife didn't like the scallops in tomatoes with garlic, the scallops were great, she just didn't like the recipe. My son had the seafood pasta both times and it is incredible, as was the seafood chowder the first night. Their menu changes daily so the chowder wasn't available the second time we went, too bad, it is amazing. I had rib eye the first time and it was really good, the second time I chose the duck, it was very good and the sauce was outstanding. If you try The Crocker House, do opt for the potatoes, the rice is good but the potatoes are really, really good.

This is not our first visit to The Crocker House but AGAIN it has completely exceeded our expectations! The food is delicious, portions are generous, and the service is pleasant and prompt.

We recommend this restaurant as top of the list!!!

One of the best dining experiences you'll ever have in Downeast Maine. My wife and I dined here for the first time this spring and have been back twice since. The Beef Au Poivre is fantastic, I have had it twice now and we also recommend the Seafood Pasta, there is such a large amount of seafood in this dish that you won't be able to finish. Everything is exquisitely prepared and the service is un matched. We will return again and again.

A first class B&B in a country setting. Crocker House is about 15 miles from Ellsworth, Maine near the end of Hancock Point, and within an easy walk to the ocean. We were two couples, celebrating Mothers Day, and the Crocker House had a Mothers Day special of dinner, lodging and breakfast at a fixed price. We stayed in the carriage house next to the main building. On the first floor is a library and comfortable chairs and sofas, and on the second floor, two bedrooms. The rooms were clean, bright, airy, had comfortable beds and private bathrooms. But good as that was, the real knockout there was the restaurant and the great menu. We had appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts. At no time were we rushed from one course to the next. Food did not arrive until the previous course was finished, and the table was cleared,
We were able to spend a wonderful, leisurely two-and-a-half hours at dinner. Just what we wanted.
Among the four of us, we had a hot artichoke and crabmeat appetizers, a rib eye steak, steak au poivre, scallops in a wine sauce, and a 7-rib rack of lamb. All of the food was cooked perfectly, the crunchy vegetables, the meat, potato, and other trimmings. Desserts included chocolate mousse, soufflés, and real NY style cheesecake. Perfect, all of it!
Breakfast the next morning began with coffee served in a lounge while we were waiting for our entire party to arrive. We all chose the omelet of the day, Canadian bacon, mushroom, and cheese, and freshly brewed coffee. We can't wait to go back. ,
