“Slow to serve, food better than other restuaurants”

We were drawn to the place because the parking lot was full of cars with Maine license plates. You've gotta figure the locals know where to eat. But we went on July 4th, 2014. The wait was unacceptably long. They were overwhelmed and couldn't deliver food. Wait was about 40 minutes. Waitress was no so good. That said, the food was excellent: lobster mac & cheese, lobster roll, and grilled cheese on wheat. Setting was quaint and not too cramped. We probably just hit on a bad night. We'd try it again, because the food was so good.

“Good food, good service ”
Reviewed 2 July 2014 via mobile

The first thing we did when we got to the Iron Bound is check the outside gardens while we were waiting for our table to be ready. Iron bound grows many plants in vegetables right outside the restaurant! When we sat outside we ordered drinks. A member of the party wanted lemonade and although they did not have it, our waitress was very kind and brought lemons, waters, and sugar to the table. For appetizers we ordered the smoked fish assortment and it was very good! We also ordered the mussels, clams, and oysters which were also very good and tasted quite fresh! I also ordered the beet salad which was average, but still good. For an entree, I ordered the duck breast which was not the best duck I've had but was very good. Good service and good food. Will be returning

“A Good Addition to the Area”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

The Ironbound Restaurant and Inn replaces Le Domaine in Hancock Maine. It serves a combination of American and bistro food in a casual setting. They were still doing their "soft opening" when we visited. And while there are still some rough spots..the servers are still learning the menu and the hostesses are still working out how to balance the load on each server, the food is very good. The beet salad is outstanding and large enough for a meal or for two to share. All of our food was very good. And the combination of casual and fine dining options makes for an inviting and extensive menu. The servers are all experienced and have been in the area a long time at other venues. We will return.
