Greenwood Manor Inn
Ranked #1 of 2 Harrison B&B and Inns
Reviewed 21 July 2014 via mobile

The Greenwood Manor Inn is a quintessential New England B&B located in the Lake Sebago region of Maine about 1 hr 20 min west of Portland Maine. This is our second year staying at the Inn when up visiting our son at a nearby camp. Frankly I don't see us staying anyplace else (we are booked for 2015). Anyway, the Inn sits on a large property with a gorgeous garden, fire area and hammock. There is a river across the road (although you really can't see it in the summer) and a lake about a block away (area is covered in lakes). The Inn has 9ish rooms and looks like you'd expect a traditional Maine B&B to look with a dining area (inside and outside) and common area. While the Inn is great the Innkeepers - Barb and her husband Ray - really make the place special. Some of the nicest, most hospitable and gracious folks you will meet. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The other guests at the Inn have also been all return guests (which speaks for itself) and it's great seeing the relationships between the guests who have gotten to know each other over the years and with Barb and Ray. Such a different feel than the usual anonymous hotel experience. Breakfasts are also out of this world. Pancakes, eggs, pastries, fruit - mmmmmmm - Barb knows her stuff!

We attended a wedding at the inn and stayed there. The innkeepers, Barbara and Ray were wonderful. The setting was beautiful, if I was getting married any place near Harrison, I'd go here. The wi-fi was being temperamental, so Barbara invited me into her kitchen to use the wi-fi there. Breakfast was delicious both when it was just me and when served buffet style. The back porch was a beautiful place with a great view of their meadow and woods.

Room Tip: Rooms on the backside of the inn are a little cooler and less sunny.

We and two other couples spent three nights at the Greenwood Manor Inn and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The room (Room 3) was spotless, the bed comfortable, the fire cozy and it was very quiet. Barb and Ray are exceptionally nice people, always thoughtful, flexible and interesting. (Barb went out of her way to locate rental skis for my husband.) Breakfasts were scrumptious - fresh fruits, just-baked breads and pastries, pancakes, French toast, eggs (one morning with lobster!) bacon - all perfectly cooked. The common areas were welcoming with comfortable couches, books and games and a warming fire. We have had lots of wonderful B & B experiences and rate Greenwood Manor at the top of the list. We'll be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 3 which was perfect. The other rooms looked equally nice.

How can I begin to thank Barbara and her crew for making my wedding day so special?? She was all over everything. Every detail was taken care of, which was a blessing since I was planning my wedding from another state. When I called Barbara in a panic about some detail that I thought I had over looked; calm, cool and collected Barbara was there for me and had it under control. The venue is gorgeous...with beautiful flower gardens. The Inn is so comfortable and relaxing. You can do it up and have an over the top wedding or play it down and go simple. Either way, you can't go wrong with the Greenwood Manor Inn. I can't say enough about this beautiful B&B in Harrison, Maine! It was perfect!!

I can't thank you enough for choosing to have your wedding here. Although you make it sound like I did something amazingly out of the ordinary, let's face it, you were the easiest, most laid back bride EVER! I don't think anything would have rattled you or kept you from having a perfect day. The love expressed by your family and friends for you and Jack are a testament to how special you are. Continued happiness for a very bright future! Barb and Ray

We arrived at the hotel late in the evening; the door was open, a nice note from the owners welcoming us.
The Inn is very charming with Victorian details, fortunately is not heavily decorated like some other inn’s can be.
Our room had a gas fireplace and a great view of the side yard. Again not too overdone with decorations, nice to have a room with no phone or TV.
Our host met us the next morning for breakfast; both of them are lovely people.
Breakfast consisted of fruit with granola and yogurt a nice pasty and pancakes.
Eggs, bacon and sausage are also available, each guest has a choice.
The only small thing I did not like, getting up before 9am on Sunday to have breakfast.
Only served between 8-9AM!
The inn is located a 5 minute walk to the public beach at Long Lake, nice outdoor gardens and walking trails.
If you are looking for a nice quiet area to stay in ME, with all the local charm, stay here you won’t be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms 3 or 9, both down the halls very private.

Thank you, Guillermo, for taking the time to write a review of your stay and for your kind words. Be sure to let me know you'd like breakfast a little later if you come back, as I would be happy to accommodate you if I'm able. You are right, Room 3 and 9 are very private and super cozy when the weather calls for the gas fireplaces! Warmest regard,
Barb

My wife and I spent three wonderful nights at the Greenwood Manor Inn. It was our first visit, but we will be back next year! It doesn't have the view that other B&B's have, but the setting was gorgeous with a beautiful colonial home, and a gorgeous backyard garden that attracted a remarkable variety of birds. Our room was terrific with a very comfortable king size bed that we will definitely ask for again, though I understand the upstairs suites are very nice. The highlights of our visit were Barb, our hostess, and our three breakfasts. When its not too busy (June is the off season) Barb makes almost anything you can think of for breakfast.

Finally, we really loved hearing the loons at night, even though we were 1/4 mile from the lake.

Room Tip: We saw the first floor rooms and preferred the room with the kingsize bed.
