Our family of four (children aged 5 and 7) decided to spend a week in portugal in july to get a taste of surfing and do some yoga. The retreat indeed arranged this very well and , though neither my husband and i will ever be great surfers, we had a lot of fun trying. Our youngest did not like the surfing but this was no problem as babysitting was easily available. Although the retreat is mainly set-up as a house party we were put up in a lovely little cottage 1 min walk from the main house. The big plusses are that everything is seamlessly arranged with absolutely lovely breakfasts and lunches (best healthy breakfast i ever encountered so far). Dinneroptions are good and plentiful within 15 min driving radius. Other big plus is location, location, location, probably one of the best places to stay in portugal. We rented a car and were therefore could easily reach a great number of attractions, lisbon (25min), cascais (10 min), guincho beach (5 min), sintra mountains with its fairytale castles and gardens (20 min). Timo and Jens who run the place do a very good job in making everything run smooth and people feel welcome. There were couples, groups of friends single people and families present when we stayed and i think all of them had a great time. I felt it to be a very nice alternative for a family with young children to a week's resort holiday. Definite a feel-good experience.
