Owner description: Wallingford Hall, c. 1804, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The carefully maintained grounds offer an elegant backdrop for weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, anniversary parties, reunions, and other special events. The c. 1770 barn has been historically restored to showcase the exposed hand-hewn beams, wide plank flooring, wood stove, and unique charm. Discovered this little gem last year on our annual visit to the area. How did we miss it before! Besides a great family photo oppotunity spot during all seasons, the beautiful plants, handmade wreaths, and organic soils, they bake on site scrumptious cookies and fresh fruit pies. Bake staff is friendly and helpful. Try the amazing plump vanilla cookies with berry filling. The best cookies ever. We now make this a yearly stop. Be sure to visit during pumpkin season for the amazing selection and a field of picked pumpkins out front. An historic buildiing for architecture lovers, and they offer a period room decorated for private parties. Happened to pass by during a wedding last year with magical lighting and decor.

From the street, this looks like a lovely place. The property is historic and is being restored - constantly.

The variety of plants available for sale in-season includes annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, fertilizer, mulch, etc. Very little is organic and the top organic fertilizers (Neptune's Harvest, St. Gabriel Organics and many others) are generally not available. When I asked the owner for Neptune's Harvest, he said he didn't have it and only ordered what customers requested. (Hmmmm. Wasn't I a customer who requested it?) He did not offer to get some for me!

The owner is more than rude and condescending. Staff can be wonderful but avoid the owner.

Prices are 5-15% higher than other local gardening centers.

While the Hall has permission to hold weddings, there are no food services; parking is both on and off site; and the interior of the building is questionable. If you are thinking of having a wedding at a garden center, look VERY carefully at all the facilities; have a good contract reviewed by your lawyer; and remember -caveat emptor.

The owner is extremely rude and inappropriate. The farm is beautiful but nothing is worth being treated like that and many locals feel the same way. Someone else should be dealing with the public, not him.
