I found this inn on tripadvisor and selected it because I was looking for something affordable, yet not just a regular motel. We stayed here one night, and thank goodness for that. The inn itself is very interesting. It was built in the mid 1700s and was a stop on the underground railroad - lots to feed the imagination as your lying under one of the cozy quilts at night. However, while the husband innkeeper was very friendly, the wife was horrible!! She yelled at him in front of us within minutes of our arrival, which was very awkard. She was gruff and abrupt with us the whole evening and next morning. When we asked if she could split the total on several credit cards she got EXTREMELY irritated and bit our heads off for even asking. All she had to do was politely tell us she'd prefer not and we would gladly have accommodated her, which we of course did anyway, despite her extreme rudeness. Then, she LITERALLY - and I mean literally - pushed us out the front door. As soon as we paid she physically began nudging us with her body toward the front door and said, "You've got to go. Go! Go! We have work to do! Leave now!" We were literally stumbling backwards trying to get out as quickly as she wanted us to. It was almost comical, but not quite. At one point that morning we (there were five of us in our party and we'd stayed in two rooms) we were loading our bags up in our car before we went in to pay, and she came running out screaming, "Where are you going?! Where are you going?! You haven't paid yet!!!! You need to pay!!!" We told her of course we're going to pay we were just loading our bags. Sheesh! Keep in mind this is a B&B, with the cars parked within full view and within steps of the front door. It's not like we were hightailing it across a vast parking lot. A grouchy motel owner is one thing. A grouchy B&B owner ruins the whole experience.

Visited here after a friend raved. Felt like home with cozy rooms, real working fireplaces, beautiful quilts and a spectacular breakfast (Dutch pancakes!). The bathroom was a little small, but very clean. The innkeepers drove us downtown and picked us up after dinner. The innkeepers are so helpful and helped us plan our entire trip around Maine. Would highly recommend it for people looking for a great, clean B and B at a reasonable rate.
