We stayed at the King's Port Inn just for one evening for a getaway to Kennebunkport. As others have said, the location is perfect and we had a very large, clean, and comfortable room for a great price since it is off-season. If it hadn't snowed so hard, we would have been able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The breakfast was okay...we're not big fans of continental breakfasts, but there was a decent selection of breads, pastry, and cereals. The staff was friendly also.

Room Tip: our room was on the second floor with a huge king bed.

We chose the Kind's Port Inn because of the reasonable price, great location, and jacuzzi bath tub. I had read several reviews that made the hotel and rooms sound run down, which could not have been further from what we experienced. Although the room was small, the decor fit with historic Kennebunkport charm. The four post bed was large, beautiful, and comfortable. The jacuzzi with the two headed shower right outside was amazing and made for our most relaxing overnight away from the kids ever. Everyone we encountered that worked at the Inn was so friendly and helpful. We plan to visit the King's Port again soon and would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy Kennebunkport.

Room Tip: We had room 200 and LOVED it. Pay the little extra and get the jacuzzi, you won't regret it!

This old colonial motel has tried to make the best of a building more suited to hotels of yesteryear. Our third floor room was clean and comfortable but in need of a little TLC. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice and a very helpful member of staff who worked hard to keep everything well stocked and tidy. The reception staff were friendly and efficient.

The location is excellent, just a short walk from the centre of Kennebunkport and a short drive from the beaches.

We stayed at The Kings Port Inn as a one night stopover on the way to Bar Harbor, and this motel style accommodation was perfectly located for both the beach and the gorgeous little town of Kennebunkport. We had the end ground floor unit, which was great for just parking up outside, but there was a musty chemical smell when we entered, which I can only assume was from the cleaning products used. For one night only, we could live with the slightly worn décor and strange smell. We did find that on our return from dinner in town just after 8pm the bar had already shut - there is however a handy deli and convenience store just over the road. Breakfast was basic - cereals, pastries, fruit - although we didn't take up the waffles to order. No English Breakfast teabags! For the cost and location, this was a good choice for one night to lay our heads.

Dear MrsFletche,

Thank you for taking the time to review King's Port Inn. We are pleased that you enjoyed our location, free continental breakfast and the overall value that King's Port Inn offers.

It is our mission to keep our rates lower in comparison to the other lodging establishments in the Kennebunkport area. We appreciate the middle class and will not price them out of Kennebunkport as so many others have done in recent years.

When it comes to cleaning our rooms we are proud to use green cleaning chemicals. This was likely the "funny smell" that you detected. We sincerely apologize if the scents were not pleasant to you.

I will pass on your request for English Breakfast Tea! A better selection is a great idea.

Again, Thank you for your review. We appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Warmest Regards,

PROS: located right in the village and has good parking. Everything is SO close - cafe, boutiques, grocery store, the brew house with river view ( excellent food and drinks), boat tours are just a short walk away. There is a fish market, so you can buy your own seafood if you want. Fun for older kids to walk ariund. The beach is 2 minutes by car. You get a parking pass. The beach is VERY clean. There are some rocks that the kids would love to climb and the beach is sandy. The suite is large enough for 4 people. King bed in the bedroom, couch in big living room and plenty of space to put a king blow up mattress. The room was very clean. Full kitchen with table for 4 and there are some pots and pans to cook with. Also dishwasher. However there is so much to do that you will not want to cook.
Free wifi with excellent reception. Coffee maker in the room.
Jacuzzi big enough to fit 2 people of average size, walk in shower for two. The hotel was cheap off season comparing to other places. It is a relaxing, wonderful area for adults and older kids.
CONS: the decor is meh, so if you want high end luxury this is NOT it. I usually don't complain, but the bed felt too firm for me and my husband. However if you get tipsy at night, you won't care anyway. The street is a little noisy, but if you turn the air conditioner on it's fine. There is No yard or a place to sit outside. The breakfast downstairs is OK. Muffins, bread a cereal and they cook waffles to order. You don't want to bring little kids here. I would say if your kids are under 8, find another place close to parks and other little kid-friendly area, otherwise they will be bored and you will spend your while time trying to find something to do for them. I haven't seen any playgrounds or rides in this area.
Summary: it is a great getaway. Bring lots of money because food is expensive. A small lobster roll ( lunch size) will cost 17-20$. The shops are also expensive. The boat scenic boat ride was only 20$ though :-) . The hotel is OK and it is just a place to crash and yes, I would stay here again. I love this area.

Dear RussiaNat,

Thank you for your review! We appreciate your comments about your recent stay at King's Port Inn!

We are sorry that the décor at King's Port Inn did not suit you, we appreciate your opinion and the opportunity to address our décor.

We do not advertise or try, in any way, to present King's Port Inn as "high end luxury". We are not a boutique hotel . While we do offer some luxurious upgrade such as two-person Jacuzzis, granite counter-tops, gas fireplaces and marble tiles in some rooms, our truest mission is to offer clean, quality lodging at an exceptional value in an expensive area.

We are glad that you found King's Port Inn to be a better value in comparison to other lodging options in the Kennebunkport area.

For future visits, the newly re-built playground at Mother's Beach, or the Seashore Trolley Museum are magical places for younger children. York's Wild Kingdom in York, Maine is another fantastic option for little ones!

We look forward to your future visits!

Warmest Regards,

We chose this inn for the location en route up the coast of Maine. It was very affordable and included a modest buffet breakfast. The room was very spacious and had all the amenities you would need. It was a bit worn, but very clean. The inn was located just across the bridge from the cute little town of Kennebunkport. We had planned on grabbing dinner at "The Crab Shack", which was highly recommended for their lobster rolls and just on the other side of the bridge, but we had leftovers from another great seafood lunch earlier in the day. The staff was very helpful and let us use their microwave oven to heat up our meal. All in all, it was a very good value in an expensive area.

Room Tip: We had a standard room and were given one upstairs at the end inside another set of doors. There we...

Dear Never2MuchTravel,

We appreciate your review! We are pleased that you found King's Port Inn to be clean, affordable and a great location!

You are correct in that King's Port Inn does not have an elevator! If stairs are a problem for anyone, we ask that this information be communicated at the time of booking so that we can offer a ground level room whenever possible.

We hope to see you again!

Warmest Regards,
Colleen

This is a modest Inn in Kennebunk. It is a at the end of a drag that leads into to Kennebunkport, so you can walk to shops and restaurants nearby. It is not next to the beaches, which is probably what makes the rates so affordable. Our room was small but comfortable and very clean. The carpet was a bit worn, but things like that do not really bother me. The rooms doors are mostly glass but are covered with drapes. I thought that was a bit unusual. Also if you do not like stairs you may want to book the first floor as I do not believe they have an elevator to the second floor. I am sure they can get a porter to help you if you need help with the bags. Most of the other guests were older couples, I did not see any other families. York and Ogunquit are more family friendly resort towns than Kennebunkport which seems to draw an older crowd.

Room Tip: Book only the first floor if you do not like stairs, as believe they do not have an elevator.
