“Nice but crowed”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

I was meeting friends in Kennebunk and needed an affordable yet comfortable place to stay. The Port Inn served well. I had a comfortable room and I'm really glad I did not have a lot of luggage as there's no elevator. The Inn was very full. Especially with families utilizing the pool so it got a little noisy at times. Breakfast was extremely crowded and there was not enough seating. And they had run out of regular coffee (brought it out as soon as I asked). Standard continental breakfast fare, nothing fancy. As all I was looking for was a place to sleep, it was perfect.

Room Tip: Try to be away from the road.

After staying at the Port Inn, I am at a loss to understand their 2-1/2 star rating!
The property is immaculate! Rooms are well-decorated, clean and extremely comfortable; nicer than many 4-star properties I have stayed in.
However, breakfast was probably the highlight of our stay. While billed as a 'continental breakfast,' the available selections went far beyond the typical pastries and juice. There were freshly-scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, several varieties of muffins, Danish, pastries, and other baked goods, as well as orange and cranberry juices, and coffee; all of it fresh and tasty!
While the Port Inn has no business office per se, staff were very helpful; handing us a laptop computer to check in for our flight and allowing us to print our boarding passes from their wireless printer.
I don't care what the travel ratings show; the Port Inn is a Four-Star property.

Just spent a night and will definitely be back. Staff is so nice, rooms are clean and modern, the heated pool is heaven! Literally less than 10 minutes to the all the shops and galleries. Thank you for a great vacation

This property is a near luxury hotel at a moderate price. The renovated rooms are well designed, comfortable and very clean. Although it is on Route 1 rooms at the back are very quiet. The pool is very clean. I would give this hotel 5 stars except for the following:

- Some of the staff have a very poor personal appearance. Wrinkled shirts, tattoos, and punk earrings are not appropriate for a higher end property

- The lighting on the walkways shine into the rooms. They should be on sensors.

Room Tip: Rooms off of Route 1 are very quiet.

My family of 5 recently stayed in two rooms on the first floor next to each other. One had a king bed and kitchenette, the other had 2 queen beds and no kitchen. Upon arrival, the room with 2 queen beds had a nice air mattress/cot placed inside so my 3 boys didn't have to sleep together, which we really appreciated, especially considering I hadn't asked for this, just indicated there would be 3 in the room. The rooms are what you would expect in an upscale boutique hotel, a big surprise since the exterior is more of a roadside motor lodge. The pool looked very clean and well cared for. Location was convenient, right outside of town. Breakfast was ok, not a huge selection, but wasn't expecting much. Breakfast area could be a little bigger as it was crowded in there, but overall this was a fantastic hotel experience. Cleaning staff and desk staff very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms convenient to avoid the stairs and easy to load/unload right into your car. Nois...

The Port Inn receives 4 stars based on appearance, comfort, breakfast choices and staff. The inn was lacking in insulation and floors/walls are very thin allowing our second floor stay to disrupt the guests on the first floor. We received two calls from the front desk for average traffic in our room and moving luggage that we were disturbing the visitors below. The inn is only two stories and does not have an elevator. It's a remodel of an older hotel and has been nicely done. The decor was fitting and rooms/beds were comfortable. The outdoor pool was enjoyable to my children, ages 9 and 13. The location isn't near many restaurants but we did try TOPPINGS pizza and it was great. Location is within 30 minutes of lighthouses, beaches and other local towns. I would stay here again.

We spent one night at the inn and had a great experience! The rooms were nice, clean and had all the necessary amenities. The pool area and the pool itself was also very nice and clean. Great continental breakfast too! The customer services was awesome! We had just arrived back home when I got a phone call from the front desk saying that they found a pair of shoes in our room and would gladly ship them back to me. I would definitely go back to the port inn!
