We recently reserved a number of the rooms at the Port Inn for our wedding weekend and it was wonderful! The staff was welcoming and friendly to all our guests, and really went above and beyond to help my husband and I prepare for our big day! Between personally distributing our hotel gift bags, to managing the list of our guests, as well as coordinating with our trolley service - we can't thank the staff at the Port Inn enough! We know things wouldn't have gone as smoothly without the help of the Port Inn!

Our guests continue to comment on how clean and beautiful the rooms were, and many of them were able to enjoy the pool and the complementary breakfast each morning! The Port Inn is a great place to stay and we look forward to returning!

Room Tip: All the rooms are great!

We really enjoyed our four night stay at the Port Inn. The room was recently redecorated with a luxury feel. They took standard sized hotel rooms and decked them out so they are a little classier than you might expect at a Route 1 motel in Maine. Despite complaints,on this site about the crowded breakfast area, we found that the guests moved in and out fairly quickly, just as we did so we never felt inconvenienced. My teenaged sons enjoyed the heated pool. Why not five stars? Well, our room would get a musty smell occasionally. It would disappear if the window was left open or the ac fan was turned on, but I suspect that it was occupied fairly regularly with guests with pets. Oh, and the breakfast eggs were the worst we had ever eaten (but my husband loved the sausage).

I was meeting friends in Kennebunk and needed an affordable yet comfortable place to stay. The Port Inn served well. I had a comfortable room and I'm really glad I did not have a lot of luggage as there's no elevator. The Inn was very full. Especially with families utilizing the pool so it got a little noisy at times. Breakfast was extremely crowded and there was not enough seating. And they had run out of regular coffee (brought it out as soon as I asked). Standard continental breakfast fare, nothing fancy. As all I was looking for was a place to sleep, it was perfect.

Room Tip: Try to be away from the road.

After staying at the Port Inn, I am at a loss to understand their 2-1/2 star rating!
The property is immaculate! Rooms are well-decorated, clean and extremely comfortable; nicer than many 4-star properties I have stayed in.
However, breakfast was probably the highlight of our stay. While billed as a 'continental breakfast,' the available selections went far beyond the typical pastries and juice. There were freshly-scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, several varieties of muffins, Danish, pastries, and other baked goods, as well as orange and cranberry juices, and coffee; all of it fresh and tasty!
While the Port Inn has no business office per se, staff were very helpful; handing us a laptop computer to check in for our flight and allowing us to print our boarding passes from their wireless printer.
I don't care what the travel ratings show; the Port Inn is a Four-Star property.

Just spent a night and will definitely be back. Staff is so nice, rooms are clean and modern, the heated pool is heaven! Literally less than 10 minutes to the all the shops and galleries. Thank you for a great vacation

This property is a near luxury hotel at a moderate price. The renovated rooms are well designed, comfortable and very clean. Although it is on Route 1 rooms at the back are very quiet. The pool is very clean. I would give this hotel 5 stars except for the following:

- Some of the staff have a very poor personal appearance. Wrinkled shirts, tattoos, and punk earrings are not appropriate for a higher end property

- The lighting on the walkways shine into the rooms. They should be on sensors.

Room Tip: Rooms off of Route 1 are very quiet.

My family of 5 recently stayed in two rooms on the first floor next to each other. One had a king bed and kitchenette, the other had 2 queen beds and no kitchen. Upon arrival, the room with 2 queen beds had a nice air mattress/cot placed inside so my 3 boys didn't have to sleep together, which we really appreciated, especially considering I hadn't asked for this, just indicated there would be 3 in the room. The rooms are what you would expect in an upscale boutique hotel, a big surprise since the exterior is more of a roadside motor lodge. The pool looked very clean and well cared for. Location was convenient, right outside of town. Breakfast was ok, not a huge selection, but wasn't expecting much. Breakfast area could be a little bigger as it was crowded in there, but overall this was a fantastic hotel experience. Cleaning staff and desk staff very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms convenient to avoid the stairs and easy to load/unload right into your car. Nois...
