“Best Ever”
Reviewed 14 June 2009

I have stayed at quite a few top hotels and resorts in the country, but never after leaving have I wanted to write a review about them, positive or negative, because the service, hotel, etc., have just been around par. After staying at Hidden Pond, I feel I have to write a review to let people know how great this place really is. The service at Hidden Pond was outstanding. From the moment we arrived we were given the 5-star treatment. Justin worked the desk and was the one who showed us the resort and our cottage. He made us reservations when we needed them and recommended a lot of great activities for us to do. On the resort they have a very unique tented spa, a bike shed, a farm, and a fitness center, which you can see all of them in my pictures. Normally on a vacation, my wife and I tend to sleep in rather late, until around 11-12, but we found ourselves waking up every morning around 9 for the fresh squeezed oj, the coffee, and the fresh baked pastries which were delivered to our front door daily. Also included with the breakfast was the New York Times, and the Hidden Pond Ledger which was a daily article providing some activity ideas for the day, and the drink of the day which was served at the Lodge Bar. My wife and I met the owner over drinks one night, and he was such a nice guy. He bought us tickets to the local playhouse where we saw a very cute play, and he sent me out on a lobster boat trip on his bill. I have never been to a hotel or resort where the owner would even consider that, which is why Hidden Pond is so special. There only concern is making you happy, and the friendly staff and ownership make this very. The cottage was great. It had everything we needed, washer/dryer, bose stereo with ipod dock, tv with dvd player, the best bed ever, full kitchen, large screened in porch with day bed, and probably our favorite part the Monoply boardgame. Despite it raining and being around 50 degrees the entire trip, it was still a great trip, and definitley the best place I have stayed. If you are looking for a gorgeous, quiet, well designed inn, I would definitely recommend staying at Hidden Pond.

My wife and I stayed at Hidden Pond for five nights in June. We cannot say enough good things about this place, and would highly recommend to all our friends without any hesitation!

We stayed at Lucky cottage (about 1500 sqft) and absolutely loved it. The entire place was so peaceful and tranquil. Other than that previous reviews mentioned (fruit/veggie/herb garden, brand new gym, heated pool, outdoor spa tent, bonfire pit, nature trail, daily breakfast, etc), we definitely have to mention that all their cottages have very unique characteristics and "personality". Every one of them makes you feel like you are in your "second home". The best part of our stay must have been their excellent staff. Everyone was extremely helpful (Christy, Karen, Justin, Chris, etc). The owner (Tim) was also very hospitable and friendly. They all seem to know us by name and also went out of their way when we needed help with planning day trips and restaurant recommendations.

Hidden Pond ranks very highly on our must-go list. My wife and I are even talking about going back there regularly. Being New Yorkers, we were able to de-stress and unwind in this absolutely blissful and picture-perfect place.

It is hard to imagine that Hidden Pond is so incredibly amazing. We have traveled extensively and have easily determined that we will visit here numerous times per season.
The service, which includes the owner who is onsite, is wonderful. Sincere, personable, always willing to ensure we were comfortable, their grins were never ending.
The beauty of Maine is known to many. We had a truly relaxing time nestled in the woods looking forward to the birds awakening us each morning. We must admit that we enjoy quiet cabins away from the daily grind of life and never complained about sacrificing luxury to achieve this goal. However, Hidden Pond provides this escape in the lap of luxury. This includes everything from the bedding and unique touches everywhere you stroll to the daily newsletter and outdoor shower.
The other reviewers include very worthwhile details, most of which we agree with. Our only recommendation is that Tim save us a room!

I have just returned from spending my birthday weekend in one of the most beautiful and romantic places I have ever been. Even though I have been fortunate enough to have travelled the world, my experience at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine ranks among the highest i have ever experienced. Surrounded by nature, we checked in into our own private home away from home. Each cottage is a beautifully appointed 2-bedroom residence with all the amenities of a top 5 star hotel. The attention to detail is incredible, nothing has been overlooked. From the great decor, to the great toiletries, to the fully supplied kitchen, to the charming outdoor screened patio with a hanging outdoor bed, to the convenient bose stereo system that worked perfectly with my i-pod, to the scented candle that was lit upon our arrival, to the working fireplace!!! Wow, what a beautiful place!! So warm and welcoming!!!
The staff is incredible. Polite and courteous, but friendly and accommodating. Always with a sincere smile, making you feel like they are really enjoying what they do. By the time it was time to check out, i felt like we were leaving our best friend's house.
During our stayed we were surprised with a great cheese and fruit platter at check in, an amazing breakfast bag every morning full of the best pastries i have eaten in a long time!, the best cocktails at the bar in the late afternoon (i highly recommend one of their specialty drinks Espresso Martinis!!), and a charming goodbye bag filled with cookies, apples and waters for the short drive back to Boston. Again, it was the attention to detail and the courteous friendliness of the staff that impressed us the most!!!
I had the most wonderful relaxing weekend i have had in a long time!!! Thank you Hidden Pond!!! I'll hope to see you again very soon!!!!
Carlo G.

You'll find comfort, elegance, style, and a superb staff at the beautiful Hidden Pond. The cottages are all stunning, elegant, yet comfy, with top-notch beds and bathrooms. There's nothing better than waking up to a hand-delivered breakfast basket complete with the NY Times, which we enjoyed on the screened-in porch. The gas fireplace was great for the chilly Maine nights. The screened-in porch bar is such a jewel, with great appetizers and drinks, plus a crackling fire on a chilly night. There's plenty to do in Kennebunkport, but it's tough to leave the comforts of Hidden Pond. The bikes, nightly campfires, fitness center, pool, croquet, garden, spa, and nature trail make this a great spot for anyone, adults as well as families. You won't want to leave!

This is an extremely well managed and well run facility. Everything is top notch. Opened in the summer of 2008, no detail went unnoticed. The owners are on premise and they are on top of everything. They will remember your name, your kids names, where you are from and what you had for dinner last night. The staff was incredibly friendly and they couldn't have been more helpful. We haven't seen this kind of service at a hotel in a very long time.

The cottages are absolutely gorgeous-clearly no expense was spared in designing and decorating these. Every cottage has an outdoor shower which is a great addition.

Once you arrive they make a point not to nickel-and-dime you. Everything (with the exception of alcohol) is included in the price of the stay. This includes (the well-publicized) muffins every morning and the wine and cheese upon arrival, but also included is yoga classes, full use of the gym, appetizers at dusk and a campfire complete with marshmallows at sundown. You also can use any of the bikes that they have to travel to the beach or into town.

Our stay was a truly unique experience and we will definitely put this on our "must return to" list.

I recently had the pleasure of spending two days in a lovely cottage at Hidden Pond Resort. From the momentof arrival when we were greeted with a cheese and fruit platter and wine to enjoy in our cabin, the feeling of peace and tranquility, being nestled in the Maine woods, was truely special. Upon waking we found a basket on the large screened porch containing fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee and warm, fresh baked bread, muffins and coffee cake, a wonderful way to start the day at this magnicent place.

Each cabin was decorated by a different local interior designer, giving each a unique atmosphere, ours was done up like a rustic fishing cottage. The grounds are beautiful with nature trails, a garden where you can pick fresh flowers and vegetables, and a wonderful pool surrounded by comfortable chairs. There are bikes available for guests to use and the beach is only a mile or so away. In season there is a van that takes guests to the beach. There is also a gym, a yoga studio, an art studio where you can learn to paint watercolors, and a clubhouse with a cocktail hour daily. At night there is a bonfire where you can make s'mores. This is truely a great place to get away from it all.
