Our one night stay which we cut short was a nightmare! We were booked for the weekend and could not stay more than one night. We were promised a room with a garden view. The room we got was a room with a half dead bush right outside the window which was facing the back end of the parking lot. In addition the staff was less than friendly. The room also had a strange odor which was not very pleasant. Needless to say after seeing this room we asked to be moved at whatever cost. They told us they could not do this. We also were bothered by barking dogs which are also guests at the hotel and they are also allowed to accompany their owners to the dining room. These dogs were NOT service animals. do this. So we found a hotel that could accommodate us. After we stayed one night we checked out and stayed at one of the best hotels.

Room Tip: Find a different hotel!!

We stayed 1night at the Colony hotel. With the windows open, we the sounds of the waves crashing against the gray rocks lulled us to sleep. Very spa like.

The hotel is an old historic hotel with beautiful grounds and is on the ocean. There is a lovely pool. The breakfast is included and is fantastic.

We stayed at the Colony during my sons wedding in July. Both families- inlaws and outlaws -were there - 14 rooms total.
It was a great trip. The rooms were so clean that after staying one night they were actually cleaner then some hotels when we first check in. The heated salt water pool was great and being able to order drinks from the pool was luxury. Nothing like a bourbon on the rocks at night, in a drizzle, in the pool and feeling very comfortable. The rooms are also dead quiet, once the door closes you are not aware of anyone. The breakfast brunch was great every day and the food in the restaurant by the pool was not overly inventive but well done and good for both young and old. Beds comfortable, closets big and views on the ocean side spectacular.
We went down to the beach eery day, froze in the ocean then walked a short way back up and got into the heated pool. We are looking forward to next year, same time, same place, no occasion this time.

Room Tip: choose main hotel, ocean view - you can't go wrong. Its also dog friendly which is odd in that y...

The colony has a great location in KPT -- a nice walk into town, and a few things close by as well (such as Mabel's lobster). The Colony beach is small/rocky but nice and a 2 min walk in front of the resort. We preferred going to the beach or relaxing on the lawn and porch because the pool area and bar were pretty tacky/loud. The staff at the Colony were super nice and we booked a last minute room that was reasonably priced. They also gave us a king bed even though we paid for a queen. The room was fine, and the bathroom was very clean. Sleeping was a little difficult since the room didn't have AC and children were screaming outside our window very early. This place is good value for a good location and adequate accommodations, but it's definitely not luxurious and the clientele is not KPT-upscale.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms don't have AC. We were in one of these rooms and even though it wasn't tha...

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night on a trip up the coast of Maine. It was very reasonably priced in comparison to the other hotels in the area. Adding to the economy was the included buffet breakfast, which had a nice selection of food. We were, I think, upgraded to a room with a "shared balcony," which actually was the roof of the front entrance portico. The room was small and old-fashioned, although immaculately clean. Not that we needed it, but there was no TV. The main issue for us with the age of the hotel was that all the footsteps on the stairs (right near our room) and down the hall sounded like a herd of horses. I think there were exceptionally rowdy guests (there was a wedding), which is not the fault of the hotel, but we really slept poorly due to the noise.

We stayed at the Colony for the first time this past summer. We booked the East House as unlike the main building, it does have air conditioning as well as a TV. The East House was immaculate as well as spacious, two queen size beds, large closet which contains a safe for cash and valuables (such a convenience) nice size bathroom and plenty of floor space. The breakfast offers a buffet of fresh fruits, cereals, eggs, bacon, muffins, pastry, etc. We are cyclists and were concerned as to where we could keep our bikes. The Colony couldn't be more accommodating, they offer a covered area as well as bike racks. The staff is courteous and conscientious, more that happy to help. We've already booked our stay for next summer, need I say more?

We stayed at the colony hotel in July and I am just glad I got a room with air conditioning. It was unseasonably hot and even so the air conditioning didn't seem like it could keep up. The rooms are outdated although fairly comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very good with lots of fresh fruit and pastries as well as eggs and bacon, coffee was not so great( probably the water). The location was excellent with gorgeous views and beautiful grounds. Overall a pleasant stay but a little over priced for the quality of the rooms.
